Payout Schedule (for 24 players)
1. 47.34% + bracelet
2. 23.67%
3. 13.02%
4. 7.75%
5. 4.92%
6. 3.31%
Our payout schedules are generated by the software using a formula as follows:
The top 25% of finishers receive payouts.
Percentages are distributed in a manner such that spot 1 pays twice as much as spot 2, spot 2 pays about 1.8x as much as spot 3, spot 3 pays about 165% as much as spot 4, etc.  I call this an "accelerating" distribution. The initial gap (between 1 and 2) is 50% and the gap decays by 10% with each position. Amounts are rounded to the nearest $5.00.

Tables & Seating
I'm seated near the software and locked in my seat. Everyone else is seated randomly.
Somehow, the software is always placed next to the nicest table...
As soon as two tables become out of balance by more than 1 player, move the next BB from the high table to the first open position left of the current BB at the low table.
When we are down to 16, the players from the broken table fill seats in the remaining 2 tables randomly.
When we are down to 8, everyone is reseated randomly and we re-draw for the button.
Table breakdowns and balancing are all handled by the software.

Chips
We have 1,300 Paulson James Bond chips + 12 plaques, broken down as follows: 500 T5, 400 T25, 250 T100, 100 T500, 50 T1,000 and 12 T5,000.
A players starting stack: 20 T5, 12 T25, 6 T100 and 4 T500 for a total of T3,000.
If someone rebuys, I just give them a yellow and four purples (or something like that). They make change at the table.

Tracking Tournament Progress
The software (Dr. Neau's Tournament Manager, for those who might wonder) helps me do everything.
When they show up, I mark them at "present".
When it's time to buy in, people line up.  They pay and I mark them as "paid up".
When it's time to cash out, I pay them and mark them as "paid out".
The software helps us track everything that happens: each buy-in, add-on, rebuy, elimination (including who did it), level change, etc.  It also logs the seating configuration after each elmination and level change.  Finally, we can enter notes like "Dr. sucked out against the Eradicator".

Tournament Flyer
At each tournament, I hand out an attractive flyer (http://home.comcast.net/~twincitiesunderground/TheJeffyLewisAllInAthon.doc) that includes the following information:
  • Overview (the "vitals" from above)
  • Details on tonight's prize pool estimation
  • Details on where the league prize pool is at and how you can qualify to play for it
  • Tonight's betting schedule
  • Current league standings
  • Info on the next tournament
  • Ground rules
  • Common questions and answers

Invites and attendance are handled by Evite. Members receive an announcement like the following from Evite:

"The Jeffy Lewis All-inathon" - Event #2 of the 2006-2007 Twin Cities Underground Poker League

Game: No-Limit Hold'em. $40 Buy-in. 1 optional $10 Add-on. $40 Rebuy for those who bust out (limit 1). $5 hit payout. Top 25% of finishers receive payouts.

The tournament will get underway at approximately 6:00pm. Expect to arrive around 5:30 to socialize and get settled (unless you are interested in a satellite, in which case contact me).

Each player will receive T3000 in chips. You are eliminated from the tournament when you lose all of your chips. The tournament will not stop until one player holds all of the chips.

During the first hour of the tournament, you may purchase an optional add-on (pay another $10 and receive another T1000 in chips). You must purchase the add-on before being eliminated, and the add-on cannot be purchased while a hand is in play at your table.

If you are eliminated, you may purchase a rebuy for an additional $40 and receive another T3000 in chips. You may purchase at most 1 rebuy.

The tournament will take approximately 6 hours to complete.

Late players: If you have reserved a seat but do not arrive in time, you will be assigned a seat and chips. Your blinds will be posted in your absence. You must arrive before the first break has begun to play.

Please bring your own beverages and munchies to share (if you plan on having munchies).

Never played in a tournament before? Not a problem. We'll start with low limits to allow people to get used to the flow. If you need to learn more about the game in general, you can find helpful links on the league website. You can also watch any of several poker tournaments that are on several cable channels.

For advanced play tips, refer to http://www.planetstacked.com/fillmaff/

If you want off this list, let me know that (otherwise, I shall continue to hassle you). If you would like to bring a friend who didn't get this invite, we can probably do that, but we'll need to see how many people respond as space is limited.

This is the second leg of the Twin Cities Underground 2006-2007 league. At the end of the season, the top 15 players will be invited to a free-entry winner-take-all championship tournament. Prize pool for the championship tournament will consist of a 10% rake from each buy-in and rebuy throughout the season.
