I would like to try a heads-up tourney with the guys soon. We've never done one and would like to keep it simple. The following is a list of guidelines we'd like to follow if possible(but any suggestions are more than welcome).

Guidelines:
1- 8 players
2-1/2 hour to an hour per match??
3-use $100,$500 and $1000 chips(starting chips and break-downs appreciated,would like approx. 20-25 chips per player)
4-Keep everyone playing(double elimination verses single??)
5-Blinds and time structure
6-Would like to use only 2 chips($100 & $500 or $500 & $1000)

Have:
325-$100
275-$500
200-$1000
25-$5000
for chips                                 Thanks for the help, Al

12 MINUTE BLINDS
100-200
200-400
400-800
600-1200
1000-2000
2000-4000
doubles from then on ...

We had 9 people and did double elim and if you don't make sure everyone is increasing the blinds, it will take FOREVER

Chip Amount: T10,000
Breakdown
20 - $100
8 - $1000
(we used 3 colors so I'm not sure you'd like that)

*Do double elimination if you have from 0 to around 8, 9, 10. Everything else do single.

Here are some tourney brackets http://www.homepokertourney.com/create-a-blind.htm. The double elimation will be fine if you want to keep everyone playing. I've never done a double elimanatioin, but I've done a single with 12 players, it turned out well. I think tbholdem02's blinds and chip structure is fine. 2.5 hours per match is pretty long, you should have about 1 hour matches. Heads-up tourneys are hard to predict because there is so much action. I set mine up to last and hour and they only lasted about 30 minutes for a long match (we had a match that lasted one hand!). Hope this helps. Good luck!

Try this

You have plenty of chips for 8 man or even 16 man

20 x 100, 16 x 500, 10 x 1000 = 46 chips worth 20,000

Blinds
100/200   Start here for round one
200/400   Start here for round two
300/600
400/800   Start here for round three
600/1,200
800/1,600  Start here for round four
1,000/2,000
1,500/3,000
2,000/4,000
