Is anyone a member of chiptalk.net?  If so, would you be willing to get a message to the site administrators?

I had been a lurker on there for several years, but had never registered.  Well, I went to register a couple of days ago and discovered what I think may be a big problem with their site....

On the registration page, search pages and even pages that are intended for contacting the administrators, there is a requirement to enter a code which is provided in a "verification image".  The problem is that there is NO verification image showing.  I've tested on three computers and an ipad as well as three different browsers.  This has lead me to believe it is truly a problem with the chiptalk site rather than something on my end.

Making matters even worse, there is NO way to contact anyone there because there are no standard email addresses AND the support forum and admin emails are protected behind this anti-spam feature as well.  So, is it possible that MANY people are having the same problem who want to become members?

Anyway, if you are a member and would be willing to alert the admins to this issue I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jim Davis

That takes you to the registration page.  He said he can't register because he can't see the "verification code".

And when I logged in I got this message:

pauld22, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Thanks very much for posting at chiptalk regarding this issue.

As pauld22 indicated, either of the two links Dr. Neau posted take me to a screen indicating I have to login to see the thread.

Hopefully the people at chiptalk will get this issue fixed soon.  I really appreciate the help!!

Jim:

ChipTalk just had some downtime to update the site and some features. (Last Thursday afternoon and evening, I think.)

Since the reboot, not everything is working perfectly. Some members have reported problems posting images or using the search engine, too.

This is a first for CT, and I'm sure they're working on issues as they are reported. I would suggest you give it a few days and try it again.

Oh.  I must have read the word incorrectly then.

Only the member that starts the thread and the mods/admins can see that post (and other posts in the Site Support sub-forum).  That's why pauld22 received that error message when clicking the link you provided.

Ah.  That's why it looked like I was the first person to ever report a problem.

Just a quick note of thank to all of you who responded and a very special thanks to Dr. Neau for letting the folks at chiptalk know about the registration issues.  It looks like they got the problem fixed and I was able to register as a new member over there this afternoon.

With appreciation,
