Newbie here:

Question about the betting structure of LHE. When you say 0.25/0.50, is that the bet limit or the blinds? What I've read so far says that is bet limit and blinds are half of that, which is not possible.

Am I interpreting this wrong?

with fixed limit it's the betting structure that's mentioned, with no limit the blinds are mentioned when describing the structure. so 10/20 limit would have a 5SB and a 10BB

That's what I thought, but the books I've been reading state differently. They talk for example about casino table 3/6 limit where BB would be 3, thereby making the SB 1.50.

Sorry for the snarky first response.  Lots of spam posters lately.

25c/50c limit hold em would have 10c and 25c blinds.  Betting preflop and on the flop is limited to 25c and (usually) 3 raises.  Betting on the turn and river is 50c and, again limited to 3 raises.

Ok, that makes sense.

I was wondering how you would post a 12.5 cent blind. :)

3/6 is usually a SB of 1, and BB 3.  It might also be blinds of 2/3 or even a single BB of 3.

.....and welcome the forum BTW

I was wondering how the SB was in casino. I didn't think they would post $1.50.

So to clarify, when people here talk about $0.25/$0.50 games they are referring to the blinds, not the bet structure. So first 2 rounds at $0.50 and next 2 at $1.00, correct?

Nope.  A 25c/50c limit game would have SB=10c and BB=25c blinds.  A 50c/$1 limit game would have SB=25c and BB=50c blinds.  The 50c and $1 are the betting limits just like the example I gave above.

Also, see the blind schedule on this page (5th schedule down titled "Limit Hold'em")...

http://www.homepokertourney.com/blinds-wsop.htm

It's for a limit tournament but visualizes what is going on with the blinds and betting limits.  In that tournament structure the second level (SB=25, BB=50, Limit=50-100) would equate to a 50c/$1 limit hold em game (the blind levels use $ for tournament dollars, you would simply use 'cents' for your purposes).  So pre flop and flop betting would be 50c with a fixed amount of raises allowed.  Turn and river betting would be $1 with a fixed amount of raises allowed.

and a 0.25/0.50 no limit game has blinds of 0.25(SB) and 0.50(BB) with no limit to the betting.
