We have been doing tourney game for the last 6 years and finally doing a limit cash game. The thought was to do a min $30 buy-in with 3/6 structure. All chips worth $1. But as I am reading and thinking it out, it seems that it would be more of a 1/2 structure for a $30 min buy-in..........

HELP!!!!  ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

$30 buy in I would do a $0.25/$0.25 or a $0.25/$0.50 blinds. You want somewhere around a min 50 to 100 big blinds as buy-in.

@Squiggly
Sounds like the OP is saying it is a Fixed Limit game in which case you don't need stacks nearly as deep.

@Burgi
If you are capping the action at one bet and three raises then you will only need 12x your big bet size so $30 would work for 1/2 Fixed Limit. There is generally no advantage to having super deep stacks in Fixed Limit games so I wouldn't even put on a maximum buy in.

X2

If you are doing limit make sure you explain the betting differences between limit and no limit.

Personally, I'd go no limit with a $20 minimum buy-in and $40 max.  Blinds would be $.25/$.25 or one $.25 blind depending on number of players.

I think for limit you need 20x the big bet for a full BI, so to play 3/6 you really need $120

WOW- all ways get good advice on here..... thanks to all!!!

So it seems to me that if we are doing a min BI @ $30 we will be doing a 1/2 game. Actually, one more question......

should we have a max BI vs a min BI?

For limit you should have a min BI.
