I just found on craigslist someone selling the following books and asking only $20 for them.

Harrington on Hold'em Vol. 1
Caro's Book of Poker Tells
Poker The Real Deal - Phil Gordon
Little Blue Book - Phil Gordon's
How to win Championship Poker - TJ Cloutier
Small Stakes Hold'em Skalansky + Malmuth

Can't go wrong for $20.

As for which book, different people respond to different books...differently. So just leaf through them and see which ones make sense to you. I usually recommend that people go to a bookstore and browse until they see a book they want to buy but in your case just scoop all of them up. You will definitely get $20 worth of reading out of all of them.

Poker The Real Deal - Phil Gordon
Little Blue Book - Phil Gordon's

I've read these two (along with his little green book, which was the first poker book I ever read). They're actually quite good. Phil Gordon may not be the best poker player out there, but he's VERY good at explaining the finer points of the game.

HoH V1, and Small Stakes Hold 'em are two of the best books I've ever read.  Caro's book is very good to have read, but, at least to me, it's nowhere near as valuable as those others.  Everyone seems to know Caro's book, though, so having read it is important.
I don't know the other books, but $20 is a great deal.
