I'm thinking of adding Add-Ons to my Tourney but have a question. I have 2 or 3 non-league players play in my game each month and we use Dr. Neau's point system. Since the system gives points based on the amount of players and how much you spent in the tourney non points players only really are penalized by spending more money, since they aren't worrying about their points.

Do the TD's that run leagues allow non-league players to rebuy or add-on? Seems to me it only hurts the League Players when a non League Player rebuys or adds on.

Our rake goes 100% to the Championship prize pool.  We take 10% off the top of the buyins, but nothing out of rebuys, addons, etc.

In your situation, where non-leaguers aren't worried about points, look at the other side of the coin: allowing the non-leaguers to rebuy and/or addon will juice the prize pool for everyone.

We also don't differentiate between league and non-league players.  We have 20 "regulars" who get first chance at reserving a seat.  If anyone can't make it, we go to the sub list.  Several subs have made most of the events, and they are the first ones promoted to the regular list if someone has to drop.  One sub has a lock on a seat at the Championship (top 8 point-earners over the season).

I guess that's true and I'm only allowing one rebuy or add-on, it's not unlimited or anything. The people that aren't league members on average don't do real well anyway but one did make it to 7th out of 23 this weekend.

I take an extra $5 from the league folks and it goes in. I guess if I just made it so everyone pays into the league fund no matter if they are in or not it would alleviate that problem.

I just wonder how the league people will feel about non-league people adding on.

I make absolutely no distinction between league players and non-league players.

If you play in a tournament, you just became a league player.

Do you have people pay some sort of league entry fee??

One year, I made "regulars" pay all the rake up front $4 per month x 11 months.

Then all the tournaments were rake free.

End result?  Only the regs paid the rake (and therefor bloated the Championship prize pool), even though non-regs could technically qualify for (and win) the championship.  That was the last time I ever did that.

I'm with the Dr. on this. Why differentiate at all? Anyone playing kicks money toward league fees. Simple. If someone complains about then they're free to not play. But I think that charging everyone will solve way more problems than it creates.

Anyone can play in our league. We get $1 per play per game and that money goes to the league expenses. In order to be ranked you need to have played in 40.01% of all tournaments in a given time period. This works out pretty well for our regulars and the folks who play a few tournaments a quarter.
