This season in our league, the highest I have placed was 5th.  Each game (we have had 5), I have been knocked out of the games by lady luck (going all in after flop with trips only to be beaten by a runner runner flush).

Here is the one that sticks with me.

Blinds 100/200

I get dealt Pocket Queens in the BB.  2 callers and I raise to 3000.  I only get one caller.

Flop comes 7S 2S 9C.

I raise to 6000.  Player calls.

Turn is Ace Spades.

I Check, player checks (afraid of caller having A in hand)

River is 3D.

I check again, player raises to 2000,  i call.

I say if you hit your ace, you have me.   Player says he hit the ace and turns over 10-3 spades.

Called preflop raise 15 times the big blind AND a 30 times the BB raise after the flop with nothing and hits his flush on the turn.

Can't get it out of my head!!!

DONK PLAY!!!!

This did not get me knocked out of the tournament and since this was the 3 hand of the night, it was frustrating!

I did get knocked out when I flopped two pair and someone called my all in.  They runner runnered their flush to beat me.  HORRIBLE!!!

Would you rather have him fold pre-flop?

After the hand was over.....YEA!!

He was the only caller of my preflop raise.  Was trying to figure out why he would even call after the flop.  Only 2 to 1 on his bet.  Odds were crap there.  I wouldn't have called either bet!!

I wonder why you bet so much that it pretty much cripples you if you loose?

What does a 3000 chip bet accomplish that a 500 or 1000 chip bet wouldn't do.

To protect against long odds and donk play, you must keep your bets under control.  Betting nearly all your chips that early in a tournament without the nuts is begging for disapointment.

After the flop he had a flush draw and you gave him better than 2:1 odds

...

If you change whether you want a call or not based on the results of the hand then you're doing it wrong.

Raising 15x the BB screams steal to me.  That bet is waaaaay too high.  If I'm a limper, I call with any reasonable draw.

Not 10-3 suited, but any reasonable draw.

Don't think of the flop bet as 30xBB...think of its as "pot-sized"...  After the flop, he had 9 outs, so he was about 36% to win (or a little better than 2:1).  You were giving him the proper odds to call.
