Just curious.  How would you play this hand in a home tournament if you were on the button?

You hold a pair of jacks,

Raise pre flop?
Slow play?

And the main question is.

What if the flop made you 4 of a kind?

Bet or slow play ?

I think there is no right or wrong way to play this.

I would slow play it to see if the other player would make a hand.

The way to play that hand will depend on a ton of other factors. How many BB do you have? Have you been stealing all night from the button? How big are the stacks of the blinds? How many limpers? How many players left. Has the money bubble been broken? Etc.

That said, I would say in general that you always want to be betting JJ and you usually want to be raising from the button if it is folded to you.

I wouldn't even consider slow playing them unless one of the blinds is super aggressive and you've seen him raise your limp multiple times before.

If you flop Quads then you typically can't do much except to wait for someone to catch up or try to bluff.

Martini has it exactly right.

There's not enough information to say how you should play them in your situation, but generally, from the button, JJ should be raised.

And when you quad-up, wait for someone to catch up.  I might put out a small bet on the turn if the flop is checked.  Small enough to get calls, and hopefully to induce a steal attempt on the river.

Tourney or Cash?  Plus the sh%t Martini requested.

If Cash game, I most likely raise pre-flop. The only time I  don't is if there is a raise and a re-raise. Then I call and wait to see what the flop brings.

If there is just a raise and a call I might still re-raise (pending on who is in the hand).

Flopping quads there really isn't much you can do unless someone else has a good hand.

Every player will have that pair on the board, so if you bet they probably think you have one of the other jacks or a second pair with cards higher than any other card on the board. So you will probably only get called by AA or KK or someone with a full house (a pocket pair matching a card on the board).

It's hard to win big pots with such hands.

I'd probably play the hand as if I had AK, making a continuation bet on the flop. You have to be prepared though that all other players will fold.
