Okay, last year we bought a decent grill for the first time, and I fell in love with cooking again.  This year, I have discovered a new weapon to add to the arsenal . . .

APPLE  JUICE

I have discovered that soaking your steaks in apple juice will leave them incredibly tender when they are done cooking.  The first ones I did took an overnight bath, and were the equivalent of fall off the bone ribs.  You almost could have eaten them without teeth, if you follow . . .
Tonight, four hours in the sauce, followed by a dry rub after draining, and I am eating the nicest strip loin I have had in quite some time.

Try it, you'll love it.

We grill out a lot - I will give this a try - just out of curiosity - is there any "apple" taste left over after grilling?

If you can get ahold of a smoker, put enough charcoal/wood in to get it up to about 285 degrees, to a pan of apple juice on the bottom rack and the meat on the top. Let it go for about 8 hours ("Low and slow"). Add the dry rub with about an hour to go.

Damn I'm hungry now.

When I left it overnight, I thought there was a slight apple aftertaste, with the four hour marinade, not so much.
