I just got a royal flush and I realized its the only straight/royal flush I have had since I started playing back in August. I was curious and looked up the odds and its was ridiculous how small the chances were. I got 649,740 to 1.

I was wondering how many royal/straight flushes the people here who have been playing for huge periods of time for many years have gotten.

Like can you guys keep track, or what? I'm just curious as to how many the people here have gotten since they started playing.

Dunno, maybe a dozen SFs and three or four RFs. There was that one time I had two SFs on the same night. I got more of them when I used to be a worse player. Been playing for ten years or so. You also have to discount some of those hands a bit since I play some Omaha too.

After 8 or 9 years of poker, I'm sad to say I don't even get excited anymore over straight/royal flushes.  It's not because I get them all the time, but after zillions of hands, you pretty much get numb to everything.  I'm pretty sure I've had 2 Royals, and probably dozens of straight flushes.

Seem like I see a straight flush (or royal) about every 6-8 months playing live games

I just got a royal flush

Time out.  Make sure you meet the following criteria:
- At least one of your hole cards played
- You actually got it before the hand was finished.

Just want to make sure we aren't talking about one of THESE again: http://forums.homepokertourney.com/index.php/topic,5192.0.html  Wink

I agree with a lot of what was said in that thread except for the part where playing the board would not be considered "your hand." If the hand plays to the River and the board runs out a Royal Flush I would say that I hit a Royal Flush, albeit with an asterisk next to it which would make it a more interesting story and all. But I don't see how you could be denied having a Royal Flush in that case. The rules state best five cards define your hand and it is OK to have all of them be on the board. I'm not talking about whether or not the hand would qualify for a High Hand Jackpot, that's a completely separate issue.

Been playing for about 10 years, online (those were the days) and live.

I've had only one royal live.  It was in Omaha, but I flopped it (and got paid -- it was a cash game).  I've had two royals online (both Hold 'Em).

I'd guess 6-8 straight flushes in live/online combined.

I have been playing for about 6 years.  Only 3 of these years has been live.  I have only caught 1 Royal on Poker stars.  I flopped it too.

I have caught about 10 straight flushes online as well.

I hit one Royal playing on a video poker machine, but that doesnt really count.

I have never hit a Straight Flush or royal in a live game yet.

I caught quads several times in my live game career.

Been playing a little over 11 years live, online for the past 6 or so.

Live, I cannot recall ever seeing a Royal Flush.
I can remember several straight flushes.
Two recently.
One was when I had a King high flush that I flopped and my wife turned a straight flush on me.
The other was 3 nights ago, luckily in a hand that I was not involved in. But it was flush against straight flush again as well..

I've had 2 Royals online. I've had one Royal against me in live play. (In a tournament. I had a set and the guy made the perfect river bet that I had to call.)

In our old, old cash game, I recall seeing one straight flush.

I don't know the count, but I've had a number of royal flushes and many, many straight flushes.  I remember the first 2 or 3 times I got a royal flush, but after that they quit being memorable.
