I lose with pocket aces a lot.  Odd too.  I have a reputation as a very tight player.  So when I raise with these things preflop, I usually get called with crap.  Odd to be called with that reputation and raising preflop.  Last game, I lost against someone who called me with K 3 off suit and board had two 3's on it.

You are exactly the person that people want to play crap against because tight players are more likely to stack off with Aces and it is easy to put tight players on big hands when they re-raise pre-flop.

I tend to do poorly with Pocket Aces, Pocket Kings (cuz an Ace almost always comes out on the flop), AK really bites it, AQ is definitely no better, Pocket Deuces never look good post flop (except for when the obvious happens), Pocket Threes (same story as dueces), and AJ can be just plain tricky sometimes.

I've found that KQ is severely overplayed by people (just what I found in my experience, so don't shoot the messenger).

I am, however, extremely partial to Pocket Tens.
Can't explain it, but that's just the way it is....

As much as I used to laugh at people who said Aces and Kings were losing hands for them overall, I can see a small bit of validity.  AA and KK will win in limit poker over the long run, pretty much no matter how you play them.  In NL, though, it can be different.  I'm using an old Barry Greenstein example (as I often do) but much shorter for this post.

If you run an experiment in a vacuum (yes, I know poker isn't played in a vacuum), lets give Albert 22 and Bob AA.  Let's assume that Albert always goes all in when a 2 flops, and always folds when it doesn't.  Also, let's just assume that Bob will always call on the flop, which isn't a ridiculous idea if you ignore suits (as we are).  Also, I'm using a standard 3x BB raise preflop.  I'm going to give the short stack 30BB, but the deeper the stacks, the worse off AA is  in this experiment.

22 will flop a set 1 time in 8.  AA will make a set with the other 4 cards about 1/6 of the time 22 flops a set.  So, 7/8 of the time, AA wins on the flop.  1/8 of the time, 5/6 of the time 22 will win, and the other 1/6 of the 1/8, AA will win it all.

AA wins 3 BB 7/8 of the time, and wins 30 BB 1/48 of the time.  The other 5/48 of the time, AA loses 30BB.

So, if you give both players 30BB (not very deep):

AA will win 156 BB and loses 150 BB every 48 hands.  Pretty close.  You can also thrown in a little bit for the few times the set of deuces makes quads, but it's a pretty small number and is ignored in this experiment.

don't really have a 'nemesis' hand.  Used to lose a LOT with A,J but I don't play it nearly as often as I used to when I first started playing.  Aces, Kings..........ya I've lost a lot with them but not enough to call them nemesis hands.
