Playing day 2 of the big slick level 16 blinds 2000 4000  500 ante second level of the day 40 minute blinds

28 players left paying 16 spots I am in 9 or 10 place with 155K chips I have been aggressive starting the day in 11 @ 107700 chips.

in the cutoff I have  ace of diamonds 2 of hearts and min raise to 10K BB calls

flop comes  jack of diamonds 8 of diamonds 3 of diamonds I make a continuation bet of 15K

BB goes all in (I can eyeball we have about the same amount of chips)

Before his hands come back from the shove dealer asks if I want a count.

Dealers do not usually bother me but I get a little agitated (not his job to ask) I say no and instantly call with out analyzing the hand.

Kicking myself all day. if I take 30 seconds I never make the call.

I had been aggressive and able to lay down the continuation bet and putting aside a stone cold bluff (a possibility at the table but not from the BB)

The odds from any holding he has are 51% in my favor to 69% in his favor.

Worse then that I am almost in the money been playing perfect tight aggressive poker with a few well timed bluff thrown in and there is absolutely no reason to call!

I'm only 25K invested I still had 132K left 12K over the average and I donked it all off to  6 of diamonds 9 of diamonds

I could say lesson learned but it is something that I already know.....

Never Ever  Huh snap call without the nuts! and leave emotion off the table!

Min-raise?

what he said - I don't get the min raise from the button - I don't think you've done anything with the min raise to define your hand.  In the situation described (the stack sizes) I would probably also call from the BB in this situation.

But I do realize what you are saying.  Having invested that much time - you should definitely take your time making that decision.

tho nothing wrong with raising to 14k or 20k nothing wrong with the min raise.... with the exception of one person  2.5 times the big blind was more or less standard.

Deep stack none aggressive blind structure different game from 4 - 6 hour tourney leading to lots of post flop play.

Bets designed so I can get away ez just plain stupid still burning! Shocked

Not so much. Sad

Bummer about the hand. Just a loss of situational awareness, it happens.

I know..... Having position a could have checked and seen a free card too.... Then it would have probably only cost around 25000 to see the river .

Not to blame the dealer but do you think the dealer had an effect on your decision?  Do you think you lost focus just long enough because his question agitated you or distracted you?

Click the 'more' link to the right of the smileys Smiley  As you click those images, you can also see the syntax that is used in the post, so you can just type it once you're used to it.
