hi, i just received a brand new double deck of copag 1546, bridge size, 4 pip cards, here they are:

first thing i noticed is that they are black and red, i was expecting blue and red, i didn't know you could get black and red: a little disappointing as blue is my favourite color for backs bit oh well...

have you seen black and red setups of 1546's before?

then i opened them up, the first thing i noticed was the jokers: the first one i took out was seriously faded with "www.copag.com.br" printed on it, the 2nd one looked more normal and didn't have the website address, i opened up the other deck (both were sealed) to see and this one had the same 2 jokers, one faded one not,  so i guess they are supposed to be like that, is that normal? you guys seen that before, 2 different jokers like this in a deck? here they are:

then i played with them for a bit, they felt like my other copags (4 color jumbo ones, poker size), then i played with my 4 color ones to compare, the 1546's were one card thicker iirc than the 4 color but what surprised me was how faded the new 1546's are, i had always considered my 4 color copags to be very faded and washed out compared to my other cards (they are especially next to my modianos etc) but compared to the new 1546's they looked positively rich with color, do the new 1546's look ok to you, (they look so washed out with white specks in the ink)? is this normal?:

here are my 4 color jumbos for comparison:

thanks a lot, i have some pictures with flash on too if these don't illustrate what i mean very well and i have bigger pictures too, i resized these to fit on the page better but i can post the bigger pictures easily if required, thanks again

edit: her's the pics with flash, they work a bit better i think:
copag 1546 set:

copag 1546 backs

copag 1546 faces

copag 4 color jumbo faces

Most card manufacturers include two different jokers. They can be one in B&W and the other in color, of with different artwork on them.

I can't really tell the difference in richness in color from these photos. The red ink on the jumbos seems lighter than that on the bridge size cards. I know there's a difference between regular red and security red (darker, probably so the reds don't stand out so much, not sure why else it would be called security red).

I usually don't mind that much when the face side gets marked. For me it's only bad when markings appear on the backs.

oh right the only other copags i have came with 3 identical jokers, my modiano's too, all identical. i'e never seen different ones in a set before

i know the pictures don't really illustrate my point

the 1546 bridge cards look legit and ok to you?

Having looked at my Copags, I would say that yours look fine.  Further to Wiliam's point about the differences in ink types, you will also see minute differences in batches, as well.  It is quite possible that this is what is responsible for any perceived colour variation.  As long as it is consistent through the deck, I would not be overly concerned.  At least, not based on the photos given . . .

As for the Red/Black, I like it.  My first 1546's were green/burgundy.  I bought a set of blue/red later.  Now I only buy blue/red to maintain consistency through my collection.  The only exceptions are for new product lines, or for original Kems.

thanks, i always expect copags to be kind of faint/washed out but these are very much so, a lot more than my other copags, the pictures don't communicate this

i like the black too, i just was expecting blue (which is my favorite back color) i wish i got black and blue decks this time lol,

i was just confused becase i searched for ages and could not see a black/red setup of 1546's so i wasn't sure they were legit

i prefer red and blue as a combo also,

thanks again

Where did you order from? I have not seen red/black 1546 setups before.

Was the outer box still in the cellophane?  I have never heard of black/red either and if the outer box was open I wonder if someone took apart a black/gold set and a red/blue set and made their own set.
