Anyone else run into this?
I did some research on plastic cards for our weekly game and decided to go with Royals. I found a really good deal on 2 decks, which is good because I'm a cheap bas#*@rd. At any rate, I'm finding that most of the players are havind a hard time dealing these cards. They are hard to separate and are dealing multiple cards with each pitch. As if that isn't bad enough, now I've got to listen to the flack about "you and these dam cards"!
My question is this... is this a common trait to Royals specifically? Or even plastic cards in general? If not, is there a brand that has the least likely potential of having this occur? I would really like to keep using a plastic card without breaking the bank. Thanx...

Like most things in life, you get what you pay for . . . Royals are bargain basement plastics.  Step up and buy some Copags, Desijns, or Carta Mundis.  You will love the improvement.

Not sure what you consider "breaking the bank" but $16 plus shipping for a set of Copags is a small price to pay for a setup that will last for a loooong time under normal circumstances. And if you play often enough that you find yourself wearing out a set of plastics quickly then that just means you need them even more.

Didn't you read my review of Royal Playing cards?

"One home tournament of play was fine with Royal cards but I noticed substantial color loss and sticking during the second tournament."

Good luck, nutn

i have some royals, they came so damaged and marked up (gouged and scraped from the factory) it's actually funny

but i find that they shuffle and handle quite nicely and enjoy playing with them

obviously wouldn't recommended them though. mine are bridge sized, which was a nice surprise

i read the review on here and it say's that the cards are a very bright white, mine aren't they are a very dull/dirty gray color

Thanx guys. Yes, I did read your review about them but in my defense, I read a lot of reviews and memory isn't what it used to be. But I did read it again and thanx for the refresher. I think I'm gonna go with some Copaqs. The New Aldrava series look pretty cool. Everyone seems to be out of stock in them but  I was able to find them on one website. Shipping is so ridiculous for such a small package. I'm in the wrong business......

Well, I got my new Copag Aldrava series and have been using them for about a month now.

Love em...

They shuffle great, don't stick together and fly across the table. I also got a couple of obnoxiously bright yellow cut cards. I actually got a couple of people who asked "What the hell is this for?" Once I explained what it was, they understood.

Regarding the cut card, I did notice that one side was glossy and the other more of a matte finish. I probably wouldn't have thought to look for this but I remember reading in another thread here about just that. It was stated that the matte side should face the deck because it doesn't slip as much against the cards where the glossy side is more slick. 100% correct. You can actually feel the difference with your fingers too.

At any rate, as soon as I can remember to take some pics of my new cards, table and newly labeled chips while I'm actually at home, I will do so and post em to share with all.

Until then, keep pushing the action..... Cool

And so begins the descent...  Wink

Copags are solid cards.  Entry level priced, but better than entry level quality.  With Copags, I never had issues with damage, sticking, discoloration, etc.  They may not be the sexiest card, but they get the job done.
