I have a monthly home game, and keep stats in an Access db. One measure is "Number of tournament cashes." We have had some games with bounties. I am curious - would you consider a person to have "cashed" in a tournament if s/he scores 1 or more bounties, but does not get any other money, and would not have received any winnings at all if it had not been for the per-person knockout bounty? I am leaning towards No, but I wanted to see what others' thinking is out there. Thanks for the input.

I would say no. I think the term "cashing" should apply to people who get payouts from the main prize pool and not the bounty pool.

If you are going to keep stats I would make a separate column for number of knockouts. But be aware that two (or more) players can both eliminate a player on the same hand and chop the pot so you should be able to handle fractional bounties as well.

It completely depends on how you define "to cash".

Using terms without a proper definition is mostly not good practice.

I'll give you an example:

-Ok, I've got a full house.
-But... I didn't call??
-Yes you did! You picked up your phone and called your wife, that's calling for sure.

The other thing is that SO many people would "cash" if you consider capturing a bounty as cashing that it becomes a relatively useless statistic. If you track bounties separately then you can always merge the two conditions later to see who got any money (place money or bounty) from the tourney. But if you just track bounties as cashes then you will not be able to later tell who won a bounty.

If you count the number of cashes (= finishing in the money): No, don't count the bounties
If you're keeping track of amounts won/lost: Yes, count the bounties

I'll play you in any game you name for any amount you can count.
