Hi,

I started with the build of my very first poker table. I looked up for some examples, pictures how to make it and some good dimensions. With all that kind of information I first draw a 3D model with ProEngineer. Next step is to saw all the parts, witch is already done. I already ordered a black poker cloth and bought some limitation leather. The next week I should get all my foam. And from than i can finally start with assembling the table. Here are some pics from the work that had already been done.

Hi to all,

thanks for the comments!

After months of inactivity I recently started the building again. In mean time I have everything to complete it except the table legs. I have no idea how to. I do not want just a wooden bar. Or some plebeian metal construction.
For now I have cut out the foam. I still have to glue it to the wood. I have the table cloth, I just have to get a nail pistol from someone. I now who but I have to get it so I can start with connecting the complete construction.

In meantime I did some more work and this is the result for now.
I completed the field and I did some customization on the racetrack. I have drew my initials with some fantasy illustrations.
Remark the hearts and the diamond drawing.
Next is to paint the varnish some it looks like it's all bling bling with a custom illustration on the background.
The spot with the custom image will be the place for the dealer.

And in meantime I have finished my poker table with an exception of the table legs.
I don't have to say much. An image gives so much more than a word.

How happy are you with the infield sitting up so much higher than the track?

If a dealt card stops just right, it can be exposed to the table.  I shot for having the track and the infield perfectly level on my racetrack table.

I don't really mind the gap between the playing surface and the track. You're right that if the dealer deals a card, it can be that the card is flipping when it just stops on the edge so the other persons could see that card. But in fact, the possibility is small. But why I have chosen this kind of table was the wooden racetrack. It automatically creates a betting line. The surface is flat so you are sure the chips will not fall down. And the biggest reason (for me), it's just much beautifuler to have some brown wood instead of all black. It's more design. I also could create a custom logo on the wood. I did it by myself. Okay, you could also put a logo on the cloth but I didn't know how. I also don't know a company to do it. Because when you want a table with one complete cloth without a wooden racetrack than it is a must to print a betting line on the cloth. (my opinion) And in that case I like it too.

The negative that the infield is sitting up is mostly when you want to push your chips to the middle. It can't be done. You have to pick it up and trow it to the mid field. But I don't really mind. So my opinion, I build it like that because I like a wooden racetrack. Because I knew I could never create a betting line on a cloth. And just a cloth without any marks, it don't feels like a poker table. But that's my opinion. Smiley

Wow. Great craftsmanship there! I love the stained piece that you have, with the black felt.

Perfect choice.

Looks good, is that MDF timber you used? i would be worried about having MDF as my track because it turns to poo if it gets wet.

Thanks to all for the positive comments!!
The only finishing touch I have to work out are the table legs. Still no idea how to and which ones.

Yes, the wood is all MDF. It can't handle wet but that's why I haven't used cup holders. First I don't wanna people having drinks at the table. I don't want my table get sticky. And second cup holders took to much place for stacking the chips. It's a poker table, not a bar furniture. On the EPT or WSOP they also aren't putting the drinks on table.
I have spend to much hours and work on the table it would be not pleasant if the wood or closet will get wet.

So are you planning on making 4-5 drink carts, and do you have the space away from the table to utilize them?

TV trays work until you can build something.

No, I'm not making plans to make a drink cart. I have thought about it but still you have to make at least 3 carts and more to serve the drink to all the players. It would take another cost to buy more wood. And still, it was made to play poker and therefore I'm making a schedule with breaks in where people have the possibility to drink something. You can even place a little table in the corner to put all the drinks on and during the break people could drink over there. Beside, I haven't organized any tournament yet. I play sometimes head to head poker with a friend. Or sometimes with 4 but that's it for now. I hope to play one day a tournament with 8 or 10 people. But I think 6 is far to good for me.

And for ending, I'm not going to organize a 3 day poker tournament. A poker game for 3 hours is more than good enough. And include some breaks and your evening is full. So that's my opinion, so breaks for drinking, playtime to play poker. That's why I'm not a supporter for having the drinks at the table, weather it is in a cup tray at the table or in a cup cart next to the table.

Well done, especially the padded rail with no apparent wrinkles.
