The hand history says this is a Limit tourney? From the betting I assume that part is just wrong.

I think you either need to play your pair aggressively from the start or fold the Flop after you miss your Set mining.

I think with your stack size it's either a fold/shove pre...and I'm leaning towards a fold. Set mining with 20bb just doesnt seem profitable.

I wouldn't have shoved with 3 overcards and a possible straight on the board, even if it's unlikely anybody would've called that big a bet with a 9-7 or 7-4. I would probably have wanted to see a free turn card or make a small feeler bet.

That said, I would probably have shoved it in when I did hit my set on the turn, even with the 4 card straight on the board. The odds would generally be in my favor. If CO called the post flop feeler bet I would assume he'd made a pair.

I don't like the idea of open shoving in that situation. I don't think you're that desperate to pick up blinds yet and while you are first to the pot you're just never getting called by worse and the best you can hope for is a flip. Set mining in that situation is iffy because you're not likely to get right pot/implieds. I don't even mind a limp then re-assess after a raise but after it gets kicked up from T400 to T1960 it's going to be hard for playing that hand to be worth your while. You're basically going to have to a) hit your Set, b) have villain completely stack off (which in this case he didn't after whiffing the Flop) and c) have your hand hold up.

Also, sucks to have to play that out of position because you're left with having to check/fold to a bet when you miss.

Obv Fold/Shove.  Depending on various other things (number of players left, etc.), I lean toward folding, but I don't think open shoving is a mistake.  You will get a few better hands to fold, but usually it just comes down to winning a flip.

Am I the only one who likely would not have called the preflop raise?  The raise was almost 5x the BB and I don't like playing small PP there.

Exactly. If you're only calling your saying "I'm behind"...so why put in 1/4 of your stack when you feel your behind just hoping to hit a set? I don't have a shove, but it's most defintely a fold or shove spot.
