Was watching a poker buddy play $10/$20 badugi last night on stars, shipping pots up to $400 each, its a lot more complicated then I would have guessed, think thats been my failing in stud based games like razz up to now I just play my hand, and there is so much more.

He turned like $100 into several thousand in about 7 or 8 day's, first time I watched last night, looks fun. Definitly will be trying this out, nice change for hold'em.

I don't play it online but Badugi is one of my favorite games. Every time stars puts a new game online the live games get juicier. You know the drill, read, study, start off small and I know you will do well in it.

It is very easy for fish in this game to vastly over-estimate their odds of catching the card they need. The restriction on suits being rainbow means that drawing one card needs to be one of 13 different ranks, minus the three that match the ranks in your hand, to even get a card that gives you a Badugi. Then consider that half of those are high ranking cards which may very well lose you the pot even if you make a four card Badugi. Then you have to consider that the other player or players may well have some of the cards you are looking for and you may well be drawing to only two or three outs to win the hand. More savvy players can also use position to their advantage.
