Hey guys,

I'm getting closer to completing my entry into the 2011 WSOP, and I was wondering...

Are you allowed to tip the dealer in a tournament after collecting a monster pot? Or is this out of the question since players may think you might be bribing the dealer?

Prolly a stupid question, but it's kinda been on my mind lately.

From my past experience, players will usually wait until the tourney is over to tip the dealers in a scenario like that. I mean if you win a big pot and then don't cash it's pretty much wasting it IMO.

I would imagine that it is allowed but that it would draw looks from other players who would either think it as goofy. There might be some suspicion going on too but I'd think it would mostly be people scratching their head wondering what you were doing.

What kind of "tip" are you talking about? Hand him a chip that says 5000 - No Cash Value on it? (Don't do this.) Or you're going to reach in your wallet and hand him/her a fiver?

The former is rhetorical, and the latter is, I don't know, a little weird....

When I have queestions like this, I try to observe others in the same situation... When in Rome, et al...

You could always just ask the floor...

Another point to mention about this is that if dealers pool their tips where you are (I have no idea if they do at the wsop), then it really doesn't matter much who you leave the tip with. But yea, i've never seen anyone leave a tip before the tourney was over.

Tipping a dealer directly during a tournament like you might during a cash game pretty much doesn't happen.
