barnes and noble exclusive kems

i was browsing the B&N website and came across this:

i thought they were the jacquards because some people reported seeing them there.  i had already ordered a set from caragails just to have.  i went to B&N just to see for myself since the website didn't have a picture.  i didn't think they were the jacquards and i was right.





special b&n colored kems.  honestly i think the decks are hard to tell apart since the colors are similar, and i will never put these into play, but i bought them just to have them.  they only come in wide/standard index.

Nice cards, but I will never understand why they insist on making decks with colors that are so similar. I know for sure there's a few people at my game that would have a lot of difficulty with these.

Yeah, just reversing a pattern is pretty lame production design. The illustration itself I don't mind at all but they had to do was go with a green deck and deck with a mauve-ish color that echoes their logo.

Agree 100%.  I simply buy everything as a red/blue, unless it is unavailable.  But, I am odd that way . . .

At Barnes and Noble in Jackson, MS, they had the KEM set for $24.95.  They had a display set, which had one of the two decks unwrapped.  To me they didn't feel like the KEM cards that I have (One set of Mallards made in May 1987, the other Arabesque-made in 1965 or 1966; one deck had a 1965 Ace of Spades, the other a 1966 one) or used to have (bought a two deck red and blue Arrow set in Greenwood, MS) that lasted from when I bought them in 1993 to around 2008 when the cards curved due to the Delta Humidity, tried cleaning them according to directions but I made it worse).

In short, unless you really want the KEM decks, don't bother.  You'd be better off getting the Carta Mundi 100% Plastic Two Deck Bridge Size Set (I got the Jumbo Index in Green and Brown decks, the display had the Standard Index in Red and Blue Decks) for $14.95 or the individual poker size all-plastic decks for $4.95 each (Standard Index).

I have the same issue with Copag's.
