I was just wondering if anyone here is planning on playing in any of the WSOP Tunica events that runs from January 27th thru February 14th.

At least 5 people from my home game are going next week.  Some are playing in one of the events on Friday, January, 28th and some are playing on Saturday, the 29th.

I'm playing the $345 NLHE at noon on Saturday, January 29th.

Word is, they are expecting in the neighborhood of 800 players.

I saw on the WSOP site that's how many they had for the same event last year.  We had a couple of satellites for that event. And, a couple of people are playing in it.

I think I'm going to play in the $235 at noon on Friday.

I was hoping to run a few sats with my group, but the action has dried up something fierce around here.

I would like to play in one of the NL ring tourneys, Omaha HI/Low, and or HORSE. However, I'm not sure I will make it this year, but I'm going to try for at least one; I'll have to see how things go.

Stooks did you end up playing in the event? If so, how'd you do?

I was actually going to type up a trip report tonight.  I played in the $345 on Saturday and it didn't go great.  We started with 10k in chips, and I was up to 20k by the 2nd break.  I doubled up a short stack to get down to like 15k with 200/400 blinds.  I wasn't panicking yet, but I don't like being under 40BB in such a big event.

I basically folded a sh%tload of hands for most of the level and then flopped top two pair vs Top pair and got it all in on the turn and the guy rivered his kickers.  Pretty gross spot, we got in about 14k each, and the pot was around 31k, which would have been way above average for that point in the tournament.  Oh well, it happens.

I ran about as badly as I have in my life on this trip.  In the 6 years I've been going to Tunica to play poker, I've only had about 6 losing trips, and this one was by far my worst trip ever.  Played a $70 tournament at Gold Strike and pretty much donked off my chips there.  Starting with 10k, I was up to 15k early but I basically played every hand for a few hours and got knocked out.

Cash games were torture.  Between 6 hours of 4/8 LHE and about 4 hours of 1/3 NLHE, I can remember dragging about 8 pots.   It was just one of those weekends that you pray you don't have. No big deal, just back to the grind online.

There were a handful of very interesting hands that came up while I was down there.  They were very rare spots and I'll get those typed up soon and posted for everyone to see.

Too bad about the river kicker!

I played a $70 tournament at the Gold Strike, also; on Saturday night.  I actually played in three different tournaments there.

I've posted a blog on my website about my experience.  If you're interested it's at: http://theboblagio.com

I was watching some friends in the Saturday $345 event for awhile.  Were you in the main room, the poker room, or the upstairs room?

I was upstairs.  I liked the idea that we had the whole bar upstairs to ourselves, but I hated the plan they had laid out.  Basically, we were all playing down to 1 table upstairs and then going downstairs.  I dont know why, but that just seemed dumb to me.  It might not have mattered, but it sounded weird.
