As I said before, concerning my math skills, I have to take off my socks and shoes to do pot odds.  I have created Dr. Neau's formula in Excel using MicroSoft Editor 3.0: (I tried to copy it here, but it wouldn't copy and paste).  It looks like: =SQRT(players) - (rank + 1), but with the Square Root sign.

What I can't figure out is, how to copy it into cells - if that is what I am supposed to do, or how to access the formula for each player whose score I enter into a cell under the appropriate name and date.

BTW: I searched the forum and found a couple of templates for Excel.  At least had been modified and ended in .txt and the author said to change it to .xls.  How?  I couldn't do it on the screen.  Neither that or the other one would open (of course not with .txt) in Excel.

If anybody has a working model and would go to the trouble to e-mail me one, it would sure help.  My e-mail address is: jerold@krouse.org.  I am running Windows 7 and Excel 2007 (I think).

Or, if you can explain how to use it in a spreadsheet it would really help.

They do not seem to give examples in the help section, or at least, I didn't find pertinent examples.

Thanks again.

Enclosed is a small and simplified example sheet using the formula Points = SQRT(buy-in * players) / (rank + 1)

Perhaps it would be beneficial to you to find an online Excel tutorial. Regardless of which formula you are using it sounds like you could use some help in Excel basics. A spreadsheet is definitely the way to go (unless you are going to get tourney software that does everything for you) but it seems like you need more Excel help than poker or formula help.
