I know Snooker isn't very well known in the US, but it's absolutely huge in the UK.
It's similar to 8 ball Pool Billiards, but the rules and table are slightly different, so I'll give a short breakdown of the game.
The table is larger than a pool table. The balls are smaller, and the pockets are tighter.
1. Players need to pot a red ball, followed by a color (i.e. not red). If they miss a pot, the other player gets to take his turn.
2. Each color has points assigned.
-
Red = 1
-
Yellow = 2
-
Green = 3
-
Brown = 4
-
Blue = 5
-
Pink = 6
-
Black = 7
3. Colors played after a red ball are placed back on the table. Reds stay in the pockets.
4. After all 15 red balls have been potted, the remaining colors have to be played in order of ascending value. Once potted, they are not placed back on the table.
5. Points scored consecutively are called a "Break". A "Break" of 100 points or more is called a "Century" and is quite rare.
What you are about to watch is a classic snooker frame (round) by one of the greatest snooker players of all time: Ronnie O'Sullivan.
