At last nights tourney we had a hypothetical question come up and it sparked a lot of discussion. What would the ruling be in this situation:

Rebuy tourney-

Player A (short stacked) goes all in, Player B calls. Player A then mucks his cards on purpose so he can rebuy. Assuming this is at some point in the hand before the river card is turned. Also assume his cards can eaisly be retrieved from the muck. Also note player A is NOT chip dumping to a buddy, he just wants to rebuy.

Thanks,

Chuck

Upon call, cards are flipped over. Period.  Hand is played out.

He threw his cards away?  Pull 'em back and flip 'em.

He tossed them on the floor?  Pick 'em up and flip 'em.

He ate them?  Ipecac syrup and flip 'em.

Also....the "muck" should not be in a place where a player can toss his cards into in anyway.  Should be a neat little stack next to and protected by the dealer.

In a tournament situation the player is not allowed to kill his own hand once he is all in. Since his cards can be retrieved, pull them out (though they should not have been allowed to get there in the first place if the dealer were doing his job of protecting the muck) and have a showdown then award chips as appropriate.

In the event that his cards were not identifiable, penalties could include sitting out an orbit or even being ejected from the tourney which in this case would just mean not being able to rebuy.

Ryder hasn't been around since then either.  It's a shame that Ryder hasn't been back since.

I almost wonder if TPTB decided enough was enough. His argumentative posts were just about tantamount to trolling.
