When I watched the WSOP I saw a few situations where I thought, that it would annoy me to a boiling point - not in a way I would tilt - but more in a way that I would feel the urge to respond to the "insult".

But i wondered how do you do this during your home - games, do you insult each others at the table? Whats the best / worst you have heard?

In home games I play there are no insults (except for joking around and stuff), but that's because it's friends and all playing.  All the worst stuff I've seen is online, probably because all the douchebags are free to say whatever they want from the safety of the internet without having to face up to anything.  I used to get a lot more upset about it, but it doesn't bother me so much anymore, at least when it's directed at me.

In our home game, one player has a habit of unwittingly rubbing salt in others' wounds, or otherwise lefthandedly criticizing their play, and has become the cause of 90% of friction at the table. Thinking he is being interesting, or helpful, or somehow useful, he constantly explains his thoughts and provides an unwelcome synopsis  after many a hand; thinking, I suppose, that others find his 'wisdom' (pointing out the completely obvious) beneficial. If a dog rivers a 10 to win, he will explain that a K would have beat the loser as well. If someone stacks a player with a two-outer, he'll tell the poor loser 'I folded a hand that had you beat anyway'. And so on.

I'm about ready to shove his cards up his a$$.

In my years of playing live, I've learned that there are generally a couple of rules:  Losers get to say pretty much what they want, and winners better behave themselves.

I agree.  However, I think of them more as unwritten rules.

To me insulting people gets you nowhere. All of my home games have included a group of good friends, so the occasional insult is a joke and its nothing further than talking about how the other person played a hand. I've had one person cause a problem at my game, and it was the first and last time he played.

Sounds like a lot of the same stuff.  All the games I have played are with friends and we rag on each other, but it never gets out of hand.

Does anyone have any table talk from games that they were invited to and nobody really knows each other?

It has taken me a long time to my players to a point that they encourage other player poor play instead of tell them how crappy their play is.

man, I sound like a babling idiot in that post. It should read more like this:

It has taken me a long time to get my players to a point that they encourage other players poor play instead of telling them how crappy their play is.

not much better, but at least fourth grade level instead of first grade.

A few years back I was invited to a home poker game. Most of these guys knew each other. Insults started flying around. It got a bit tense, but nothing too hectic until the dealer error. Everyone was new to poker and didn't know the rules all too well. The situation got very tense as no one knew how to resolve the problem and the two players involved in the dealer error started insulting each other. Punches were thrown and the police was called. The worst poker game I attended by far.

I haven't heard that much in live games.  There was a time when a player was a loud mouth and put his two cents in whenever he could.  One time I took a pot off of him he said something like, "I wish I could be a retard and get lucky all the time".  My reply to him was, "well, you are half way there."

I read a book by Willie Mosconi  on pool.  In the book he made a reference to Minnesota Fats  on how he was always talking. Those who remember him, knows he liked to talk.  Not like the character Jackie Gleason played in the movie The Hustler.

After listening to Fats carry on for a while Willie finally said.  "Fats beat me with your stick not your mouth"  Or something to that effect.

I reworded it and say "Beat me with your cards not your mouth"

Some joking is ok, but some people just get under your skin.

Willie Mosconi...I'll say only that he was the best, ever.

basically the talk is, most of the time, intended to make you boil. That is why once you realize it, you stop paying attention to it and simply interpret it as another part of poker - like a bluff, a slowplay, or anything else. Business is business.
