...at a poker table.  I can't believe we don't have a thread for this.   Sharing random stories earlier today with a friend, this hand came up, and I just gotta share.

Very, very, very loose 4/8 LHE game.  Tons of players seeing flops, turns and rivers. 

5 players see the river and the board reads   

On older lady bets $8, and gets two! callers...yes, two.  She, of course, has the nuts.  A dunderhead rolls his  that he called with and says, "I knew my flush was no good, but when I made 2 pair I had to call"

lol...we had a similar situation like this the last game I played...this guy was really.....really drunk....and a terrible player to begin with...

He has  on the board reading  .

He says "I knew I didn't have the flush, but I did have 3 jacks!"

It's been a while for this one, but I have another good one.  In the same game as my OP (same place/people, not the same night) this discussion came up between me and a guy called "Logger".  He's a very nice guy who runs a few games around here and is likely the best player of the really bad ones that come to his games.  He has been playing a long time and is the epitome of the older fellow who refuses to believe that a younger guy can be as good as the experience players.  Anyway...here is the conversation that came up during a tournament after a 3rd guy (Rick) was short stacked and had been shoving a lot and had just shoved again and action is to Logger...

Logger: (before looking at his cards) Rick, I know you're just trying to steal...if I have Jack-Ten or better, I'm calling. (He apparently doesn't, because he folds)

After the hand...

Me:  So, Logger, you're calling him with King-deuce there?

Logger:  Well, no...King-deuce isn't better than Jack-Ten...hell, Ten-Eight is better than King-deuce.

Me:  Yeah, I know it's not a pretty hand, but you'd rather have King-deuce than Ten-Eight in a showdown, right?

Logger:  I'll take the Ten-Eight any day verses a King-Deuce.

You guys don't know the half of it.  Parenthood has put me as a sparse player in this game, but it's a pretty amazing situation.  It's bascially 60 people (of all legal ages and genders) that get together in groups of 25 every other day and trade money.  The only person who makes money regularly is the dealer, who deals for free but works for tips.

This is usually preceeded pre-bet at the river by the, "Umm... I have one question about a straight...?"  Which is resoundly answered by the table as, "Only one player per hand, we have to see the hand to tell you."  Hee, Hee....

I love the fact my 10-year old even knows this and laughs when it happens...

What's sick is, say you had AK and he looks so confident , you decide to lay it down. I've been in similar spots where a guy thinks he has it, looks like he has it, but doesn't.
