He obviously shoved because he was down to 12 1/2 bbs (not a good shove imo, namely without antes) and had pretty cards.  Still a very tough beat though.

A) He shoved with 78 suited as opposed to calling.
B) He was first to the pot.
C) Second lowest stack needing to double up or steal blinds
D) .25 buy in

This....mainly the .25 buy-in part....definitely the biggest factor here.

Much agreed on both posts.  I've seen plenty of people shoving hands like 87s in bigger (but still small) buy ins though.

Easy, tiger.  I know it's a bad beat thread, but how many times are people supposed to say "sorry man, tough beat"?

My bad. I didn't notice the area this was posted under (I use the Recent Unread Topics link so I don't know which section the post comes from without checking) and based on the subject line I thought you were confused by what is a pretty standard tourney move from a short stack who actually had a decent hand to shove with since it plays well against overpairs which are the hands that will certainly call his bet.

I'm sorry about your Jacks getting cracked and being the first one to bust out not to mention the 25 cents you lost. I know that everyone else here can empathize with being 80/20 to win and having that one in five situation come up because we've all been there and seen that too many times before. That really sucks.

"sorry man, tough beat"

but seriously..........its a .25 tourney............nuff said

I made the exact same move a few days ago, except mine were with a 7/8 of spades. Middle position, short 15 x's the BB, first in the pot, f$%k it.......All In........I doubled up. Next hand I pick up 9's. First in the pot.......All In.........double up again. I ended up taking 4th in a 45 man, 6.60 turbo.......

I'm playing a live game tonight. Same situation, same cards, f$%k it........All In.
