At least it's better than it happening on the bubble.

Indeed.  Tough beat but not much you can do here. Shouldn't your luck be turning around sometime soon? Huh

I know its pretty easy to be critical in oversight but I might not have shoved the river.  Bottom set against a straight and a flush (even though a gut shot and runner runner) isn't the best holding especially against 2 mopes that called a check raise on the turn.  Like I said though its easy to read a hand history and say that you shouldn't have gotten broke there.

I was thinking the same thing. A Set doesn't look so hot on that board after the Turn and River come out. Plus it was not even necessarily a gutter since 89 gives an OESD which the Q would fill. If I'm JJ there I'm re-raising the Flop before scare cards come out since someone is obviously interested in putting money in the middle.

I'm not positive you have to fold here...I can understand your shove. I think my only real problem with the hand which I did not catch before is calling 7x the BB pre with 33...

Kinda like my post in another thread about raising with one pair on the river, I really feel like folding sets is reserved for rookies and experts.

I'm just saying that it's not much of a cooler when one of the villains turns over a Straight at showdown.
