I want to do a tournament in a bar in my city,  and I want to know how many spare decks I need per tables of 10 players.

Thanks!

If it's "self-deal" & you are going to use paper cards, keep 3 decks of each color,  per table,  handy.
If you use plastic decks,  you probably don't need more than 1 extra setup for every 3 tables "just in case" ...

It's just a type of plastic.
Kems are "cellulose acetate" .. & other companies came out with PVC acetate ...
It's rerally not nessessary to spring for the extra $$ for the acetate, if you aren't using kems, just get a good name plastic deck such as Modiano, Copag, Dal negro, Desgjn ...
Also, if the tables are wood bare top, a cheap vinly or similar tablecloth will help ....

If it's a bar league, I would not purchase anything other than Copags or Desijns.  They are the cheapest (usually) and will hold up well to the abuse they will receive.  I would not pay the extra for DN or Modianos.  They are excellent cards, but bar leagues tend to be harder on the equipment than regualr home games, so save the $$$ where you can.

With plastics I would have one setup (=two decks with different color backs) per table (to allow for deck change) and one spare setup for every 5-6 tables.

Plastics won't often get damaged, if someone spills on them you can switch to a spare deck and wash and dry the cards to get them back as a working spare.

I find regular deck changes (to avoid different kinds of cheating) more important.

Is Desjgn really that difficult to spell guys? It's "Design" with the "i" replaced with a "j".

Yeah, I know, but I have some sort of dyslexia about it.  I looked at Jeff's site to confirm the spelling (because I KNOW I get it wrong) just before I posted that last entry . . . AND I STILL SCREWED IT UP.

That seems to pertain to Canada ..
Here in the states, it seems the opposite.  I've found that Modiano's tend to be found slightly cheaper than Copags ... look around on Amazon or at the various merchants listed here ..

Actually, they aren't. They're using KEM cards, but since KEM is owned by the United States Playingcard Company (USPC), who also own Bicycle, they put the Bicycle Ace of Spades on the cards to promote their bestselling brandname.
