First time playing Omaha hi/lo, maybe 5 or 6 hands into a freeroll, comments on all streets, especially turn would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Once villain takes the lead I would seriously consider folding unless you boat up and even then you have the underboat which is a total trap hand. Trips with top kicker is a strong hand in Hold'em but considerably less strong in Omaha. Since it is a freeroll the guy might have been donking around but assuming he is a competent player it looks like you have a good second best hand.

By the way, I think it's a damn shame this is the first poker strategy topic in a month.  Thanks, lucky.

Oh yeah, about the pre-flop. That's a fold for me UTG. It's an un-suited Ace and a non-nut low draw. What kind of Flop are you looking to hit with that?

Yeah, that was a crappy pre-flop raise.  That's a pretty crummy hand to even call with.

I only play omaha high low in 8 game or HORSE (and play it badly) so it's not like can give a decent opinion on the hand, but I very much agree with the thanks for posting a strategy question.

AK with some low value seemed alright at the time, I'm not used to limping, so started off trying to isolate, not v.effective in limit tho.

Turn does feel kinda spewy, doubt I could find a fold with so little experience, but calling down seems infinitely better then raising the turn.

Thanks.

Trying to isolate pre-flop in a game of *limit* PLO8b will work about 1 times out of 100.

The one thing I DID like about your play was betting the flop.  Chases those out who would only back into a low.

With spr has it was, my first reaction was to go for a c/r on the flop actually, but thought better of it.

I registered late otherwise I probably would have had more hands to share. If I remember I'll sign up tomorrow and see if I can find some interesting post worthy situations.

Thanks.

Rule number 1 for beginning Omaha 8...if the low you're drawing to isn't the nuts, chunk it.   It takes a pretty advanced player to really feel when the 2nd or 3rd nut low is chasable...it usually isn't.

I learned something very early when started obsessing with this game about ayear ago.  In low-limit, I am 99% certain you can be a winner by very simply being the tightest player in the game.  It might be a slow grind, but I think it's a guarantee.
