ok so I've build the table, and have a mock up of a logo to be dyed onto the play surface but I wanted something different. So I came up with a lit betting line. I used LED Christmas lights with no warmth. there will be a LED light every 1/2" with a total of 220.
3 sets:
1x100 white
1x50 white
1x70 white
these LED light sets recommend not to exceed 190W if connecting more than one. Each one is rated at less than 5W
this is what it will look like:

here is a mock up of underneath the table, these wires will be boxed in.

the light is SO faint you can see it from every angle perfectly and are not bright enough to annoy anyone. as you can see by drilling holes from the bottom side and sticking the LED light up into the hole the play surface remains flush and the lights and or holes can not be seen when turned off. Obviously these will be installed before the play surface material is installed.

different lighting

here is a mock up of the actual table

That is kinda cool, and if you should decide against it in the future, well just turn the lights off Smiley

I agree. I like the felt to.

I don't really like betting lines, but but how can you pass this up, lol. I definitely would like to try it out.

Neat idea.  Do you have to cut holes in the custom cloth so the lights shine through, or is the cloth white/sheer at the light locations?  I'm sure whoever did the cloth for you already mentioned this, but usually those clothes have to be stretched really tight when installed.  I'd be terrified to cut holes in a custom cloth like that in fear that it would rip/distort the holes.

I did the cloth myself, and yes the holes are pre-drilled first and the cloth is installed over top so the light shines through the material. No fear of cutting the cloth.

Man, just think of the possibilities here...

Drill a grid of holes into the table and combine with this technology:
(Click to show/hide)

You could:
- Light up the area of the table where the action currently is
- Mark the button with lights
- Flash for the blinds until they are posted

The possibilities are endless!
