Middle of a tournament, blinds are 20/40, 8 person table.  Everyone folds to button-1 (loose, passive).  B-1 goes all in for 100.  Button and SB fold.  You are the BB, 500 left after posting.  You have Q3o.  Do you call or fold?

You say button is loose, and you're calling 60 to win 160, so it looks like an easy call.  His range may well be any two, but even lowing it to the top 30.9% of hands, you're just over 33% to win, making this call easily correct.

x2.....with almost 3 to 1 on a call you have to call with almost anything here....and you may very well have 2 live cards, with 2.5 bb left he is going to be pushing with just about anything.

Yes, I'd probably call with anything there.

Well at least it looks like I made the right play.  After making sure I had the situation right, I did insta-call.  The other player, my dad, had sixes.  I rivered a straight.  He asked me about it the next day and I said basically what has been said in this thread.

You can also tell him that it is a mistake to let yourself get such a short stack that someone in your situation MUST call since he has no fold equity. If he had recently suffered a beat and got short stacked from that then there's nothing wrong with his play but if he had been blinded down to that stack size then he mis-managed his stack.
