I run a monthly tournament which averages 2-3 tables. About a year ago, I got sick of continuously buying paper cards so I made the switch to plastic. I have volunteer dealers and 1 of them really likes the feel of paper cards so after reading some reviews, I bought a set up of Dal Negros for him and 2 set ups of Kems for my other dealers. My problem now is that after about every other tournament, the Dal Negros are filthy. I can go 6 or 7 tournaments with the Kems before they need washed. The Dal Negros aren't even used at the final table. I really like the Dal Negros, just wondering if anyone else has this problem with them.

Okay, washing machine then. I prefer the delicate cycle . . . it's not like they're Modianos, right?

I've got a dozen set-ups of the Modianos. Bikes are on the way . . .
Thoughts on the all-white Torcellos?
Any idea if they will do an all-black deck?

Thoughts on the all-white Torcellos?
I have a deck of Dal Negro Blanco and have never put them in play. Was always too worried that sloppy players and dirty fingers (pizza and chips have a lot of oil) would cause a marked deck too easily and quickly. The cards look sharp and I love the Euro index (4-pip). I was lured by the 'cool' factor with no thought to practicality. YMMV.

who are you guys playing with that get your cards dirty to the point that they need washing? i've never washed a deck of cards, including those that have been used almost daily when my wife and I play whatever card game we're in the mood for.

I personally do not have this issue with any of my 2 dozen set-ups, most of which are Modianos. Most of the regulars know that I am OCD when it comes to me "stuff". I mean, I sort the decks out after a night of playing so that they are back in order (A-K, K-A, etc.), and I sort the chips so the edge spots line up in the case. I guess they figure if they mess up my cards or chips I'll go postal on them or something . . . and I see no reason to disabuse them of that belief.
For the people with this complaint, some players are just slobs . . .

Well it happened again, tonight is our monthly league tournament and as I went to check all of the equipment out, the deck of Del Negro's is filthy. I have no idea why that set up always gets so dirty. They are used on table 2, so they aren't even in play the entire night.

You can ask them to wash their hands before they get to the table. Tell them that it's cold season and you are asking them to do this for their own protection. Or you can buy a couple setups of Modianos or Fourniers; anything that doesn't suck up oils and dirt like you are seeing. Or just plan on washing the cards after use. I wonder what a little Rain-X will doo for the cards? Probably not on Dal Negros, though, they may absorbe too much. Or you can buy a couple setups of Modianos or Fourniers. If the dirt is that bad, wouldn't it affect the way they deal? You could get som Dal Negros that are darker in color so the dirt doesn't show as much. Or you could get some good cards that don't collect dirt as much, say, some Modianos or Fourniers. DO you see the pattern here? I'm a bit like Milo, I like my investments to look good. I don' exactly have OCD, I have CDO. It's like OCD but the letters are in the correct order.

What version of Dal Negro cards do you have? I have had two different setups of Torcello's, and one setup of Freedom X. I've never had similar problems whatsoever.

I had the same problem. The black from the spades and clubs are being scraped off upon shuffling. I threw both my decks away. Never will buy Dal Negro again.

Wait, wait, wait. When you and the wife are "in the mood"... you play cards?

Update: The setup of Modiano's I ordered were delivered yesterday. I really like the feel of these cards. We don't have another game planned until April 10th so I will see then if my dealer likes them, and if they get dirty right away like the Del Negro's. Thanks for the advice about the Modiano's. Wish me luck!!

Thanks for the advice on buying the Modianos. Put them in play last night and everyone loved them, and best of all, they are not dirty after 1 use like the Dal Negros.

I only run 1 30 person tournament a month. Thanks to this website, in the last year I have purchase 2 set ups of Royals (the kids play with them now) 4 set ups of Kems, 1 Dal Negro and 1 Modiano. The wife is starting to ask why the game cabinet seems to have so many decks of cards in it. You guys have also afflicted me with another malady. In the last year I have gone from: to this: to these: and now I have ordered a set of these:

Welcome jjschoon, our meetings are every 2nd Thursday of the month . . . have you picked a sponsor, yet?
Remember, the first step is admitting you have a problem . . .
The second step is building a cabinet to house your problems . . . cards and chips.
You'll love the Pharoah's, if others are to be believed.
