I can't believe I am having this problem. The faces of both decks (1546's) have bled/rubbed off onto the backs of all my cards....therefore rendering them useless. They have been stored in a cool dry place the entire time but now they are ruined. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Thanks.

Never had that problem with any of my Copags, or any other cards for that matter. Could you post pics of them, maybe I didn't get the problem right.

Never had a problem with it, and never heard of it with the Copags.

Yes, I will post a picture....after my tourney tonight.  Grin

Not that we can use those cards. But, to give you an idea...if you look at the face of any card it is very blurry and they have bled onto the the backs of the other cards. Very upseting as out of all the cards I have they were my favorites. (Good thing I have extras though  Wink)

had the same thing happen with my piatniks. its a shame, but then again, they lasted longer than any paper deck, i got my money out of them, and i always stock extra setup, so que sera sera. how old were the copags?
side note, my piatniks were stored in the same humidifier i keep all (ok, most, i cant fit them all in there) my other setups. kem, GAMECO ( Wink ), graphica, carta mundi, and these were the only ones it happened with. i wrote it off to whatever mrs such as made for food getting on the decks and breaking down the finish. but who knows?

My 1546's had a different problem, the backs bled some of the color on to the faces. The decks are still easily playable, just ... ugly.

Mine did that, too.

I just bought 3 copag setups off a guy on craigslist. I would have bought 4 but the blue decks in 2 setups had color bleeding through on certain cards, rendering the deck useless. Oddly it was the black aces and jacks on the blue decks. The cards had blue stains all over their backs, in the shape of what was on the other side. We did some substituting and came up with 3 good setups. They had been in storage for a while and one deck is bowed, but I still got a good deal.

Upon further inspection what is happening is the blue ink from the face of the picture cards is bleeding on to the back of the card below it during storage. I have another copag deck ruined from this. I don't know much about the history of these copags, but it is a shame they are ruined. Could be heat and/or humidity.

I've seen this happen to Copags at other peoples games.  I've also seen a new deck of Copags just opened and the backs of some and the faces of others be completely faded and practically unreadable.  I have never purchased Copags before and probably won't until my Modianos fail me and even then I would probably try other brands first.

The Copags cards are a very durable set of cards.

The problem that we had is that the ink, on the face, of all the cards faded before we had any other problems.  Of course we played with these cards every week for an entire year before retiring them.

The fading doesn't bother me, but some of our anal players would always make a comment.  So I shut them by saying "Ok, you don't like them.  you give me the money and I will order a new set".  Now you know why played with them for a year.

I think it's just the nature of the beast with Copag.  I sure did get my money out of them.

That happened to the blue deck of my first set of Copags.  All the paint cards bled into the backs of the cards under them.  They were my most used set.   But at the time, they had been kept in a drawer for a couple of months.  I decided to use them for a tourney and was surprised to see the bleeding.  I have plenty of other cards, and the deck was over two years old, so I wasn't too worried about it.

i have just encountered this problem with my copags....blue ink on face cards bleeding onto the backs causing stains and blurring with the export series, and bleeding backs of the blue deck of 1546 series... im guessing it's the ink used for the blue....will copag make good on this problem...anyone else got any info about correcting or copag repairing problem

I posted earlier about the same problem. I threw mine out since I bought them used anyway. The other 4 decks I have from the same guy are fine so far. It is a bummer.

i spoke with Copag over the phone, stating my problem.... the woman who answered the phone, although pleasant & professional, was very stern in saying they DO NOT warranty or guarantee used cards. i had simply said " i purchased the cards about a year ago & used maybe twice." she replied with " send in your guarantee card with the 4 aces, the problem cards, and a note with name, address, phone #, and brief description of problem." she also  gave me the address to send it to. basically, everything their website tells you to do. so, i proceeded to write a letter with required information and explained where i stored the cards, and how i thought this to be a defect on their part, not from use or storage, & that i was not the only one to encounter a problem like this. i then sent the entire red export deck to show extent of damage. one week later i recieved an entire new export set-up (red & blue) with a letter thanking me for my patronism and they would bring it to the attention of the quality control dept.
i will note that my copag decks are rarely used...i use kem cards mostly, once in a while copags. so, i don't know how they could decipher extensive use other than by how dirty the outer edges are on a complete deck, because copag does not use a date code. my deck was about 5 yrs old, but again rarely used. regardless, the decks should not bleed the way they are .... i see kem decks as old as 35 yrs without a blemish due to ink.... and copag now knows this. ....point being this, don't lead on to how old your decks are, instead, relay info on more reliable card manufacturers who stand by their product. i will say that copag are good cards, they do stand behind their product, & try to make things right with their costumers.....

So in her mind they only guarantee new unused/unopened cards??
Seems a bad way to treat & speak to your customers, especially Before she even knew exactly when you bought them, or how they were used ...

I can't imagine any manufacturer replacing a set of cards that were purchased used.  That said, I would recommend either of our two great card retailers (Trident or Cara Gail's).  Both will stand behind their products.

I still believe that Copag is probably the best value for premium cards
