Lost tonight local game at heads up, was smaller stack by about 3:2, pocket 99's, flop comes 9 7 2, pretty happy and slow play it to let him hit something, turn comes 2 I bet out and get raised, having the nut boat i raise again and get called, thinking he may have the 2 but not really sure. River comes 2 and I again bet out with nut boat, he raises i raise and he goes all in, I think for a moment of the chances of him having the final 2, think not a chance after the river 2, put him on a 7 or pockets, call all in and see him turn J 2, GUTTED!!!!!

painful.  heads up, almost any play can be justified.  u probably would have taken it down on flop with a strong bet, but i would have slow played that too.

yeah no action pre flop, thought about it  but he was getting out of the way pre flop if i was raising and he had nothing so i took a risk in letting him hit...let him hit too well!!!!  lesson learnt me thinks

If you had raised and he called then the hand most likely plays out the same way anyway so don't get too results oriented about the play.

So you put him on a 2, and then just because 3 come out, you give up on that theory?

Even when he bet it as if he did the whole way?

Negreanu is the King of that...  but only he does it on small pots and it doesnt bust him!
