Possibly the biggest band beat I have taken, both in $ terms and odds wise.

Well he could have caught a Seven on the Turn to give him an open ender and then he would have eight more outs on the River. How could he miss? Wink

I had the same thing happen couple weeks ago. I had bottom Set versus a medium King on a 35K Flop. I raise him on the Flop then get the rest in on the Turn when the board pairs Fives. River...King. Oh well.

The best thing was that even in the grip of my first real downswing in 6 months I resisted insulting the guy and just said nh in the chat... I did need a few deep breaths though lol.

Btw, "nh" is the most insulting passive aggressive thing you can say to someone who sucked out as bad as he did.

You played .01/.02 poker for all that time and never had someone hit a 7%er on the river?  It feels bad now, but you'll get back on that upswing soon enough.

I'm supprised he was in such good shape. I don't recall that many bad beats from 2nl, I've had a fair few 2 outers recently but ussually for only 50BB's or less.

...

...

You underestimate his backdoor draws. Like I said, he could catch a (lucky) runner runner Straight. And as much fun as it is to laugh at being "sooooted" his backdoor Flush gives him more pot equity as well.

As it stands his suited connector gives him 7.86% pot equity.
http://www.propokertools.com/simulator/simulate.jsp?g=he&b=8s6djh&h1=5h8h&h2=6s6h&h3=ahas

If you take away his backdoor Flush outs by making his hand offsuit instead then he drops to 4.98%.
http://www.propokertools.com/simulator/simulate.jsp?g=he&b=8s6djh&h1=5c8h&h2=6s6h&h3=ahas

Likewise, if you give him a disconnected Deuce instead of a Five he falls a bit more down to 4.54%.
http://www.propokertools.com/simulator/simulate.jsp?g=he&b=8s6djh&h1=2h8h&h2=6s6h&h3=ahas

Take away BOTH of his backdoor draws so he can only catch runner runner Eights full and he is down to 1.44% http://www.propokertools.com/simulator/simulate.jsp?g=he&b=8s6djh&h1=2c8h&h2=6s6h&h3=ahas

However if you upgrade his side card to a rank higher than your Sixes but still disconnected like a King then he has more outs to make a higher Boat but still drawing super thin at 1.77%.
http://www.propokertools.com/simulator/simulate.jsp?g=he&b=8s6djh&h1=Kc8h&h2=6s6h&h3=ahas

So, lesson learned. Suited connectors *do* indeed have more value than offsuit and/or disconnected cards. Still an ugly suckout though.

The biggest shame is that this type of player is ussually the single table type and I'll probably never see him again.

Well at least you have the right attitude that you WANT to be playing against this guy despite him pillaging your chip stack.

LOL. It would be *really* interesting to see the stats on players who show up on the largest amounts of buddy lists.

Perhaps we could start a thread going where we list our top 5 fish, or the most recent 5. It might be fairer to exclude the last 2 or 3 characters from the names though, they should be enough left for comparison.

I have a list of fish in a notepad file that I have a script look for after I sign in to the lobby.  It would be a pretty neat thread for us all to post our top 5 fish.  It's just comparing the hashes in the posts for duplicates.........

I use a notepad file also, to record those who hit and log off. What script do you use?
