I wasn't involved in the hand but the standard NF vs SF cooler hand happened last week in my group.

.50/1 cash game. Darn near a family limped pot so about $7 in the middle. Flop comes As4s5s. Checks around. Blank on the Turn. $5 bet from EP. Some folds. One call. Rest of the table folds. River is a blank as well. Three Spades on the board from the Flop and no paired cards. Check from EP. Bet of another 5 from LP. Raise to 15 from EP. Massive overbet shove from LP who has the ~$80-$100 of EP's stack covered. Insta-call from EP. EP shows Ks7s for Nut Flush. LP shows 2s3s for the Wheel Straight Flush. Nut Flush gets up from the table and calls it a night.

We have twice had Nut Flush vs Straight Flush but with paired boards. The first time, a middle connector Flush was behind the Nut Flush and caught his two outer on the River but it paired Eights so the Nut Flush didn't call the shove on the end of a large pot. Second time the Turn brought the gin card to complete the Nut Flush and Straight Flush but the SF flat called behind and when the board paired it killed his action.

Those would be coolers for sure! I have only seen one str8 flush versus nut flush.  My wife felted a guy at a friend's home game tourney - and went on to win the tourney I believe - she got to see the flop with something like 10-8 spades from the BB when no one raised but there were 3-4 limpers.  Flop comes down 7s-9s-Ah.....she checked, a limper raised but only like 2X the BB - got two callers - including my wife - turn was the Js.  She check called the turn - and it was just her and the nut flush - she check raised the river and got re-raised all in when all she had done was value bet the check raise - she obviously called.  She still talks about how great she played that hand Grin

Insane cooler and there's nothing either player could do. Somebody was going to lose a lot of money on that one.

I once took down a Bad Beat Jackpot by going runner-runner Straight Flush to beat flopped quads. So these things do happen, and not just online.

I had this happen once with AQs versus 87s on a flop of 569 of spades at a $.50/$1 table.  Like, my jaw literally hit the floor.  Good that Nut Flush called it a night then; that's way better self control than most would have.  Tilt is unavoidable there. Cheesy

I forgot one. We did have a Straight Flush versus Nut Flush on an unpaired board. I had the Nut Flush and lead out on the River. Got one call then a shove from a player who only would be doing that with a Straight Flush. There is no way he would check/raise with a K high Flush or bluff in that manner. For the amount that he had behind I made the call even though I was 99% sure that he had the Nuts.

I've seen it once in our game, here's how the conversation went when the hands were tabled ...

Ace High: "Nut flush."
Luck sack: "Nuts."
