Is it okay to help the dealer shuffle at a home game?

We have one person in our home poker group that hates shuffling because she claims that she does not really know how to shuffle.  So whichever table she is seated at, the player next to her usually ends up shuffling for her.
Obviously this sort of thing would never be allowed in a casino, but what about in a home game where most of the people are seriously trying to win the top three spots?

What say you?

In this instance make her learn. Its not like its a complicated thing. There was a home tourney where a guy had a hand in a cast. That would be a good exception to the rule.

That's why she should be "taught" how to shuffle and deal.

I think it's good she spoke up about her limitations.  She can learn how to shuffle another day.  Hey, isn't there a HowToShuffle.com site somewhere?     I'll gladly shuffle for someone if they have trouble or request it. 

When we have a person who volunteers to be a dealer after they bust out, we let the person to the right of the button shuffle and then pass the cards to the dealer for the next hand. The dealer cuts the cards and deals out the hand.  It may not be optimal in some people's eyes but it works for us.

Even if you could get her to do a proper shuffle, what if she is so slow that you have to wait for her to finish? That negates the reason for using two decks in the first place. If someone is willing and able to do it correctly and in an expedient manner I'll gladly have them do the shuffling. Having dedicated dealers is acceptable so why not a pool of dedicated shufflers?

if someone else wants to shuffle for the dealer i say go ahead.  just make sure someone else (not you or the dealer) cuts.

It's OK to help the dealer shuffle, as long as neither you nor the dealer is cutting the cards. We've had some people who claim they are horrible at shuffling, so usualy it's me who shuffle in their spot. And I've had some people shuffling for me when my hand was out of order (got a small stone stuck inside my hand. Yes, INSIDE. It hurted)

Since almost every home game nowadays uses plastic cards, shuffling is easier than ever.  Seriously, it takes about 5 minutes to learn.

casino dealers cut the cards themselves, so why can't they cut in a rotating deal home game?

all the home games i play at (with casino dealers like me) the dealer does the cut himself.

For my rotating deal home game, anyone can shuffle, though it's usually the next dealer. The person who cuts can not be the shuffler, the dealer, or the person who gets the first card. That usually means the cutoff is the cutter. I also don't usually allow anyone but players who are still in the game to cut.

The dealer in a casino is usually trusted enough to cut the cards himself because he's not playing.
