I couldn't be more excited!
Really!
I live in NC and I am currently about as far away from a legit game as you can get in the states (I do not count going out on a boat for two hours play time as a legit game)
I have a feeling the West Virginia state treasury will be swelling with the toll fees from my soon-to-be frequent trips to Charleston.
3.5 hours away!
WOOOOOOOOOOT!
I can go on a friday night!!!!
After work!!!!!
Oh yeah. I'll get you some chips. I am still feelin' guilty for not bringing back any cruise chips....

I'm not quite sure, but I have the sneaking suspicion that you're a bit pleased by this news.  Just call it a hunch.

Aww hon, you don't need to feel guilty about it; no worries.

{wait! what am I saying???}

Harumph!  You should feel guilty, breaking my heart like that, leaving me destitute without those chips!  Ya know I needs the chips!   Cry

Well that was a bit of a letdown. It's just a bit too far away. I live just outside DC and this place looks to be about 6 hours away or so. I can be in Atlantic City in right about 4 hours, so why go further?

Now WV is close and I was disappointed when Charlestown Racetrack and Slots, (about 1hr 15 min away) chose not to add a poker room when it seemed like all of the other WV tracks were getting in on the action. Hopefully they'll come around.

Although maybe I could mix some poker into a motorcycle tour weekend. WV has great riding...six hourse away by direct route would be maybe 9 hours of leisurely/mountain riding.....something to think about. I'll keep my eye out for updates.

The racetrack didn't decide that - it was voted down by the local folks.

Opened tonight at 7pm!
I was one of the first in line and played some 1/2 NL for about 4 hours and got paid minimum wage Undecided .

They were spreading Limit up to 4/8 or 5/10  I think, NL up to 5/10 (300min/1500max) and some 7stud and Omaha.

Over 15 (maybe 20..i didnt count) tables going with 50-100  people on the rail at times. There is also a separate tourney section thats not open yet, tables are up but there are camera issues i think.

A bunch of green dealers overall, but not a bad experience (maybe we were an easy table). Hopefully things are still hoppin in a month or two like tonight.

Here's a little chip PrON.....

Later,
ElKabong

I hope that they would reconsidered having Poker in Charlestown.  Afterall, they are having a grand opening for a new hotel there next month.  (You want people to stay and play, but you don't want them playing cards.  Hmmmm.....)

I am glad to hear that the poker room seemed to be a success.  Hopefully, you'll get paid more than minimum wage on your next visit.

For anyone interested, C-town is going to vote again on Dec 5th 2009 on table games.  Looks like they have more support this time from the horse industry and others in the county.  One of the commissioners has come public with her support as well.  Looks like this maybe the time.  I hope so, I'm less than an hour away.

I am right there with you.  It's a race between Delaware Park and Charlestown.  (Delaware Park is a little closer for me, but I never had luck there when I played slots.  [I know, I know....])

I'd do Chester PA as well, but no word there yet either.

AC can be just too far some times for some quick action around here.
