G'day all..........

Just a quick hypothetical........

Tourney, blinds are say 1000/2000.
Only the BB is posted as the player that was due to be the SB has just been eliminated.

BB stack is 1500 and is all in. When/if the next player wishes to call, do they call 2000 or 1500?

too lazy too look it up...

thanks

Call 2000, 1500 in the main pot, rest in a side pot.

Nothing personal against you, Deeks, but the "I'm too lazy to look it up" attitude is not a good trait of a TD.  I don't know that you were the TD in this situation, but if not, I would expect the TD to know wha tthe proper ruling was, and if not, read the rules and come up with the proper result, with the rules to support the decision.

There's much to be learned in the process of finding the right answer.

Again, this is not intended to be an indictment against you.  Perhaps the correct ruling was made and you were just posting the hypothetical to confirm that it was correct.  Even in that situation, a bit of time with the TDA rules or RRoP would be beneficial.

Thanks, but there was no situation, hence the "hypothetical" mentioned in my OP.

This questioned was asked of me last week and, for some reason, I confused myself deciphering the correct answer.

Be sure to repost your comments to all those that would rather ask this forum than look up RR's.

It's not exactly hyothetical.  It happens quite often in tourneys.  It's pretty real world, so to speak.  It is information that a TD should just have at the ready.

I see, so based on that reasoning, if your 18 year old nephew asks you, "Uncle Paulie, lets say you like to wear women's underwear. Would that mean I could call you Auntie Paulie?" Do you show him your new Victoria Secret thong now or proceed directly to Deed Poll? Evil

It is information that a TD should just have at the ready.

Absolutely... however I'm no TD!

Hypothetical - being or involving a hypothesis : conjectural <hypothetical arguments> <a hypothetical situation>

Conjectural - of the nature of or involving or based on conjecture.

Conjecture - a: inference from defective or presumptive evidence b: a conclusion deduced by surmise or guesswork c: a proposition (as in mathematics) before it has been proved or disproved

"inference from defective or presumptive evidence" - Nothing presumptive about the evidence here.

"a conlusion deduced by surmise or guesswork" - Nothing to surmise or guess about.  The numbers and procedure are clear.

"proposition (as in mathematics) before it has been proved or disproved" - The situation has been proved many times before.

A hypothetical situation would be as follows:

Paul states to his 18 year old nephew, "Marilyn Monroe would have loved me."

The inference based on defective or presumptive evidence:

a. she was married to Joe Dimaggio
b. she likes Italians
c. I am Italian
d. she would have liked me.

And for the record, my nephews are 5 and 9 and they have no idea that I like to wear women's underwear.  Way too young for that.  They will find out in due time.
