Hi everyone,

We would like to know which hand you use most often to pull up the cards when you peek at them. For example, I am right handed and I use my right thumb to pull up the cards by the corners. So I would answer "Right Hand." I know this may depend on where you're sitting (or who you are sitting next to), but we want to keep this simple and just get a general idea of which hand you use more often. Thanks in advance for your help.

Best,

Is "both" an option? What about those players who cup both hands over their hole cards and squeeze the pips into view using both pairs of thumbs and forefingers?

Hi Martini,

I thought about adding an "other" option, but for this exercise we need to get a sense of preference: right or left. What we didn't want was "it varies" type responses, but maybe "both" is not a bad idea. Thanks.

I lift the corners with my right thumb and cover them with my left hand.

Yeah, someone at the warehouse told me that he was right handed but that he cupped with his right and pulled with his left. It sounded odd at first, but it makes sense given the location of the "typical" index; never thought that for me a four index card should be more comfortable. Thanks.

And then there's William Rockwell who uses his feet due to losing his arms in an accident.

As Midnight Rose said, gun to head, I would have to say more left than right due to pip placement. But I don't look at it as a left/right handed thing anymore than using a stick shift. It's just the way to look at the pips because that's where they are. It would be interesting to see what players would do if they were exposed *only* to four pip cards to see if there were a correlation to handedness. I think using four pip cards only part of the time would still be influenced by two pip usage.

Yes, it could be the location of the index and, possibly, the longer you play, the more you gravitate towards the left hand.

I'm right handed.

I cup with my right hand then lift and squeeze with my left.

I'm just imagining the look on someone's face hearing me say that out of context....

ps -Alex, i've purchased quite a few setups from you and love your prices and service.  I'm glad I took advantage of your special on the US Games Rally cards before you sold out.

Thanks to you - the Rally cards went quick.

Now I kinda regret putting "both hands" in the poll . . .  Wink

Well thus far, the results can't be too helpful.. 4 boths, and 8 each for right and left.. Not sure what you're running the poll for, but being split like that can't help make much of a decision. Smiley

Just trying to pick the index style for a new card. Not sure what to make of the poll, but the comments are interesting (most of the comments, that is  Wink). aF

That is why I voted left, even though I'm right handed.  I bring the cards off the felt with my left, then squeeze with the right thumb.  That leaves me with a tiny "V" formed by the index fingers.  Even with an eyeball on my shoulder, there is no way you could see my hand.

I think you'll find a lot of old farts read the same way.
