There is a major hacking attempt going on in the HPT Forums and I have had to revert back to the default forum theme for the time being. Not all functions may be working correctly.

It's actually quite a pretty theme; but it's a real eye-opener when you see it unexpectedly first thing in the morning.

Wow, hacking a poker forum, some people have way too much time on their hands. I have a feeling Nutn has access to the correct people to get this resolved though.

I though it was a new version of the forum software that nutN didn't have time to mod up...

What happened to the good old days of the internet when everybody got along and left each other alone as they got their porn?

Those went away when forums were created.

Agreed.  It wouldn't be a bad thing to keep it this way, with some HPT branding, of course.

Yeah.  It looks like my crappy phpBB forum that I maintain for my high school graduating class.

Did you have to revert because the mods you are applying to take care of the hackers don't work with the desired theme?

Is that really your guess Dr.? I figured we would all assume it was fuglyguy, the recently banned disgruntled (former) member with bad punctuation. He even sent a round of kiss off PMs to a bunch of people involved in his final thread that included a bunch of F-bombs.

Point taken, though I haven't seen many un-modded forums lately.

I prefer the modded style. Default just seems soooo...default looking! Plus I imagine Nut'n it taking a revenue hit since the banner ads aren't getting any impressions.

These attacks have been going on for over a year but have intensified in the past two days. I wouldn't blame anyone who has recently caused trouble.

I am going to keep the forums in the default theme for a day or two to investigate whether it was my forum theme that was being exploited. The ads will reappear after I make a modification to the theme in a couple hours.

Good luck, nutn

Do you suspect that these attacks are a cause of the SMF database errors??

Good luck gettin' things sorted out Smiley

I had similar problems on my forum.  I used a RAC Mod (phpBB) to get things under control.  smf should have something similar....
