I know this is the BBS corner, but what exactly made the aces-holder a donkey here?  Or was that statement based on previous hands?

Well, my main point about that hand was that he should have recognized that he was beat, since there wasn't really anything else I could hold.  I think that he just never thought that aces could ever be beat because they're aces.  My thought is that if I read that line in the strategy and skills thread or something, it would seem clear that aces are beat, but I guess a great many people never, ever fold them.

Clearly, I'm no strategist; and I normally agree with most of your strategy posts.  But I disagree strongly with your line of thought here.  And honestly, you sound a lot like Phil Helmuth when you say "he should have recognized that he was beat".  I don't see that as being the case.  There was plenty you could have had in that hand, with that flop.  And I'm sorry, but just because a player raises with a strong hand, doesn't automatically mean their opponent has to lay it down, knowing that they're beaten; DD taught me that very thing in the last live game we played.

I don't mean to insult you, or to press you when you've posted in the BBS forum, really; maybe I shouldn't have said anything at all.  But I don't think you're thinking clearly here.  Sure, it was a bad beat, and the cards failed to fall your way.  But I think it's incorrect to label the villain a donkey here.  But maybe I say that because it's hard for me to drop aces, yes even to a reraise.

And maybe he put you on another overpair.. J's, Q's, K's are all possibilities as well..  And the odds of you having J's, Q's or K's is higher than the odds of you having 6's, 9's or 10's..  There's also the possibility of holding 7-8, I suppose, but I don't see you raising and calling the re-raise w/ 7-8.

Crappy hand, but I'm w/ Rose on this one..

The more I thought about it, the more I thought that queens made a lot of sense for me here.  I couldn't really have held kings (I don't think anyway), or even jacks, but he could really have put me on queens here.
The 'donkey' part was due to his play other than that hand, the fact that he didn't fold his aces when I thought he should have, and frustration.

I guessed so.  I've been there, donked that.  Sorry that your primo hand (which even got better on the turn, yikes) got fried so badly in the end.

Wow, another one, and there's no dispute that this weak, passive 'player' played like a donkey.

So, take away the hands you've won on total miracles and you're even!

Well, I wish I had a lot of those.
I do, of course, realize that I should lose more to bad beats than I win from them, since I should get chips in A LOT more often with the best of it, but it's still frustrating at times when the bad beats come.

First hand-  Would you have laid down AA in that situation, not knowing your opponents hole cards?  I wouldn't have, not on-line.  There's no way I would have put you on 9-9.  In fact, I questioned my play with KK in another thread when the guy hit a set of 9s and bet into me.  I pushed, and the consensus was I played it right.

Second hand- HEE HAW!!!!!!!!!!

Made that mistake last week, heads-up, call from the SB, looking to trap my mate with my aces, he goes all-in on a K high flop, and I know he wouldn't go all-in with AK or less, but I call anyway, he shows K4, flopped two pair.

Moral of the thread jack, sometimes we know where beat, but don't listen to ourselves... we should.

I have one that is acctualy hurt more than that.

I was in early position, and got KK, and as usual, I raised.
Got reraised from a dude in middle, and everyone else folded to me, and I reraised.
He raised one last time, and I called. I thought he might have Aces.

Flop: K K A

Now I bet quite big and he went all in. I called ofcourse, and he showed Aces.

Turn: 2

River: A

I had chips left, but I just went home. Getting knocked down by a 1 outer isn't plesant for your body.
