I opted to post this question here instead of asking directly through your site in case any HPT members are wondering the same thing.  Does anybody make a high quality plastic pinochle deck?  My grandparents run a euchre night each Friday to raise money for the local volunteer fire department.  A euchre deck consists of 24 cards, the nines through aces, and two euchre decks can be made from a pinochle deck.  They currently use paper cards, that do not hold up well.  I hesitated to buy poker decks and throw half the deck away, didn't seem very cost effective.  If pinochle decks are available, or another solution can be found, I am looking for dozen euchre sets.  Thank you for your time.

The Elements decks are only 5 bucks a piece.  Even if you're throwin' away half the deck, that's a pretty good price.  And you can knock another 10% off using his discount code for HPT members.  (At least I think that applies to any and all purchases)

It does apply to the Elements, I have bought numerous decks. Good cards, great variety colors.

Good suggestion A5S

I don't think they would buy them for $4.50 a deck.  Right now the get the pinochle decks for about $2.50 and get two euchre decks for about $1.25 each.  My grandma couldn't stand to throw away half the deck.  If that is my only option I'll buy the decks for them , repackage them, and eat the cost difference.

How often do they replace the paper decks?  I would imagine the plastic cards would easily last 3-4 times as long as the paper cards.  I don't know that it's the only option, but I doubt that there would be anything cheaper.  I know it can be difficult to convince the older, "thriftier" generations to spend a little more, but I'll bet it can be done.

You're not the first to ask. We're not aware of any euchre sets in plastic. A5S has a good idea, but you may want to check with your folks to see if they prefer bridge-size. Once in a while we find a "same color" set - we can check the warehouse tomorrow for anything like that. Thank you.

I asked them about their playing cards and she said the paper decks can be purchased for $2 a piece which makes two euchre decks.  The paper decks last about 3 weeks.  The Elements would cost me $4.50 + shipping meaning they would have to last about 5 times as long as the paper cards or about 15 weeks.  I not sure what you meant by "same color" set, but they do prefer poker width.

The Elements should easily last 5X longer than any paper deck.

I think I'll get them a deck to test drive.  I'm sure the older generation will hate the plastic cards at first but it is worth a shot.
On a side note I don't like to use the adjective "plastic" as it has some negative connotations, need to find a better descriptor.

While it doesn't mean "plastic", I'd go with "high quality".. Or 100% PVC..

If you point out that they'll last 10 times as long while only costing 5 times as much, the older generation will be all over them.

Point out that you can spill stuff on 'em and just wash 'em off..  That's another good selling point..

I think, therefore I bet.

They will probably not wear out at all as the "older generation" treats cards a little more carefully than us next in line to be the "olders".  Also, the full deck will give you a couple of fives to keep score with in Euchre you know.   Wink
