Crazy night and it seemed that people were calling with just about anything.  Cash game $50-$100 buy-in and $0.50/1.00 antes.  10 people playing.

Standard raises in group $4.00-7.00.  All players "skilled" but no way close to pro.  Once in a while PF raises were 10.00, 20.00, and 25.00.

This is what I noticed all night.  People playing crap even with raises listed above.
K-5 OS   (PF raise 5.00)
K-3 OS   (PF raise 4.00)
6-3 OS   (PF raise 5.00)  (5 calls)
7-9 Suited (PF raise 3.00)  (5 calls, I was raiser and flopped str8) (I was on button)

The latter I was the raiser in early position with 7-8 suited.  Flop 4-5-7 rainbow.  All checks.  10 (4-suited) on turn.  Led out 20.00 got re-raised 20.00 by last position.  Got caught obviously.

Question:
1.  What do you do in a table like this?  Buy-ins up to 100x BB and knowing people are playing sh%t hands even when raised?

2.  Last hand, what would you do Pre-flop?)

Personally in a game like that I would tighten up and then stack them when you hit a strong hand.

Best option for 78 is to flop a straight or get a free card on the flop to hit on the turn. I definitely wouldn't raise with it, you want people in the pot with you to justify drawing to the straight. With these opponents there unlikely to fold to your re-raise and even if you hit top pair on the flop, there likely to chase all the way and if they hit, you going to loose more money then you should.

Edited : 78s is a blessing and a curse, you could make your flush, but if theres lots of action will you be comfortable putting half your stack or more on it with only an 8 high flush.

At a table like this I certainly wouldn't call any raises with bad hands, but I would try to limp in in late position with some weak hands if a number of others had limped.  I would also definitely raise up strong hands, but nothing else (unless I could open in late position, but I would only do that with certain types of hands.)  Overall this game should be great.

I'd play very tight (only very strong starting hands and low pairs).  I'd have to open raise or three bet pf with any of the strong hands (high pairs or AK, really) and call reasonable raises or limp with the little pairs.  That way, I'm peddling the nuts, as I will only put a lot of chips in with big pairs or with sets.  AK is the tricky hand here, as I'm sure that it's +EV to play it.  I figure that you can't go halfway with it (calling pf and maybe on the flop, only to give up to a hand that may not even beat it), so it must be played with conviction.  That may be the hand where you just except variance if you're beat, but if you want to get rid of the AK, I think that might be fine too (again, I wouldn't, though).  I have had success at goofy tables doing this, so I bet it will work as long as you don't lose your patience (I'll admit to losing mine on occasion, but I don't recommend that you do that).

first of all, pros do not play .50/1

second, try to get in pots for cheap with sneaky hands like 78s..dont raise with crap like that often. Use nice reraises pre with JJ+ or maybe even QQ+ preflop

but, the main main main thing you gotta do is play in position
