Hia, after too poor games, I'm again questioning my early play logic.
Very early in my last tournament I find AK, its raised already, now from study an appropriate thing to do is raise 3x the previous raise, but being so early in a tournament I chose to call, correct ?
Here's that particular hand and another later on, where I faired the worse in each against the same opponent, just looking for some advise on how I handled them please.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1769814The first hand, I make a continuation bet on a flush flop, I get one caller. I put the turn card down as a blank and checked to try and find out if I'm ahead or not, expecting my opponent to check if he was on the draw - risky I know he could have bluffed me out of the pot, could have raised his draw, and I gave him a free card if he was drawing, but what else could I do ?
The turn brings another blank, because of his check on the turn, I reason he doesn't have the flush or he would have played back at me and judge my top pair to be ahead, he calls and shows two pair.
Bad play or simply unlucky this time ?
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1769810The previous hand may have affected me, but I took time out, only contested one or two small pots and some time had passed.
I don't have a great hand, but the blinds where soon to put me under increased pressure and I needed to build my stack being the short stack. The flop looked good for me and if it wasn't I had a flush draw to back me up, so I moved all-in to avoid giving him great pot odds to call me.
Was this too early to be so aggressive with only pocket 8's, should I have waited for a better spot ?
