So, I am at the Cas in Melbourne Aussie  (home of the Aussie Millions)  and sitting at a $1/$2 blind table which is the smallest table they have to play NL on.

I have A5 Suited (diamonds), which by now most of you would know that it is a hand I will play unless I get raised big time.  I am actually on the button so even better have position.  Few callers (the game was 7 handed).

Gets to me I raise to $6 (3xBB) Which was also about 2/3 of the pot.  The SB calls,  next rest fold except for one more call.  Flop comes down Ah 10h 5s.  Everyone checks to me, I bet $20 which I asses was about 2/3 maybe 3/4 of the pot to kill off the flush draw if need be.

SB calls other one folds.

The Turn comes and it is 7h.  Doh  I check, he checks.

Last card is mid ranged non-heart (can't remember) but figured it didn't change either of our hands.

I think and then bet all in which was about $35

So the point of this story was he had a tough call and he picks up his cards stretches his hands out so I could see his A3 off suit (top pair).  My head goes and jumps up and down and starts doing the jig of celebration.  I keep looking at the community cards and trying to keep a straight face.

he waits, and then decides to fold after getting upset on not getting a read.

Then the guy next to me the other way goes his hand is dead anyway as he has shown his cards.

The dealer goes na its still alive but the supervisor would give a penalty if he saw him do it.  I rake in my pot and consider is this true.

What happens at your local cas.  I would have thought not savoury but by all means allowed.  What do you all think?

would you show cards to get a tell.  I remember doing it in a freeroll once, but probably wouldnt do it at a Cas.

Anyways I won yahoo... but Is think on reassesment a bet like 15 would have been a better option to extract money, and to just in case the potential for a slow played flush.

Not sure about Australia, but the hand would still be live in a cash game here.  He would get a warning about showing cards while the hand was in play, but that’s all.

Assuming that the house rule says that you can show your cards, if you are planning on folding anyway then you can show your cards as a "Hail Mary" to see what happens. If you get a read then you can go with it. If you don't then you were going to fold anyway so you don't lose anything.

However, if you are going to show, I would only show the Ace in this case. You could even throw in a little table talk about not being sure about being up against a pocket pair or a strong Ace. If you show both cards then you are potentially showing that you can be bluffed off the better hand.
