Does anyone have any experience with the non Sit-N-Go tournaments on Poker Star (excluding freerolls)s, I haven't tried one before, but have become quite interested, thought I'll ask for opinions and experiences and such ?

I used to play the $5 tournaments on UB a lot...especially the ones with guaranteed payouts.

Be prepared to stare at your screen for a LONG time...

These tournaments are absolutely great.  You can vastly increase a small bankroll with a big score in a $1 or $2 tournament, but, more importantly, you can see a large amount of hands for a very small price (especially in limit, where you are pretty much guaranteed to play for over an hour no matter how bad you run.)  The experience you can in one of these for the price is a great deal, even if you don't hit that big score for a long time.

How do they work? I've seen them on Stars, but never looked into them.

You certainly do get FPPs for MTTs, but you get very few considering how long you can play.  However, the amount of time that you can play for such a cheap price is a great deal.  I love the fact that you can play so many hands for so cheap.  This is certainly one of the bet methods for improving one's game, especially due to the constantly changing situations that arise throughout a big tournament.

Try the .10 turbo tournaments.  PS adds $50 to the prize pool, so the winner usually gets about $80.  801 places pay, depending on how many people are in it.  I just finished 13th and won $3.  not a lot, but pretty good for my investment.  The blinds go up every 5 minutes, so well timed aggression pays off.  There aren't as many donks who push all in every hand as there are in the free rolls, so for the most part it's decent poker and good practice.

I nearly sat in one of these actually, but the turbo put me off. I generally play tights, so stand a better chance in the tourneys with the 10 or 15 min tourneys. However this is a weakness of mine so it will be good to get some practice in this area and for only 10c, its surely a fair deal.

They're kind of fun, but if you get card dead you have to be willing to push with less than premium hands, then you need a little luck.  I played 2-3 off from the button when I could limp in twice and hit a boat both times.

It's under the micro tab.  I think they only run at 10am and 4 pm, but there are some .25 buy-ins later.

I love those ten cent tournaments.  I don't play them too much (although I should) but I really enjoy playing them.  The blinds move up VERY fast, however, and considering the amount at stake, the play gets absolutely insane after about 10-15 minutes.  You have to accept tough breaks in a structure like this, but it can certainly be a lot of fun to play this style.

I think that it will be good experience for the price, I've only done well in one fast event so far, and its deffinatley a wekaness of mine, I'll love to improve my performance in fast events, that way if I fancy a change of pace, or the turbo games seem softer then my standard games, I'll have another avenue to make some profit.
