My last few games, in fact all my games today havn't really gone very well. I feel as if I'm playing scared and its really effecting my game.

I think its down to struggling to get and keep profit, I'm playing sit-n-go's mostly now and as soon as I'm one win away from profit, I don't cash, and more frequently I'm only placing 3rd... maybe I'm playing with scared money, like I'm aiming to cash and thats the problem itself.

Anyways any tips to get my focus and aggression back,

cheers xxx

Looks like I'm out of the rut, just scored a nice with in another NL Sit-N-Go.

Thanks go out to Iron Maiden, who no doubt helped me take the win, as I listened to there Edward the Great album on low volume whilst I played :p

It all goes back to bankroll management. I think that it is good that you are concerned with the outcome of your tournament. I think that starting out with a small bankroll it is easy to just donk off chips and not care about a tourney because you can just go back into your pocket and reload your online account but that's not how to handle your bankroll properly. When you grow your bankroll to the point where you are trying to live off it, there will be no back pocket big enough to compensate for burning through a quarter of your bankroll on a tilt binge. The other side of bankroll management is to make sure that you are not risking too much of your bankroll at one time. You should be invested in the outcome of the tournament but not so wrapped up in it that you are afraid to lose or have the outcome affect the your play. I will bet that any pro will tell you that bankroll management is the key to playing poker as a living.

True,

I've semi settled on aiming to raise my bankroll up to $60, and then I'll take a shot at a higher level tournament, either a $5 one or something between $1 and $5 if thats available. If I win great, I'll play another at that level, If I loose I'll drop back down to the $1 tournaments and wait until I'm back up to $60 or more again.

I'm pretty successful at the 1 + .20 45 man tourneys. Should give that a try.

Be careful with your BR.  Personally I wouldn't play in any SNG that cost more than 1:15 of my BR.  Once you get to 15 buyins or less, you should drop down a level IMO if possible.  Have 20-25 buyins is a good starting point but if the next level from goes from $1 to $5, I wouldn't touch a $5 buyin till I had at least $75-$80.

I'd like to have a shot at them, but haven't found any yet, only thing I've seen are the 9 or 18 people tourney's, I'll have a closer look later.

Their in the same spot as the 9/18 player tables, tight, tight, aggressive works very well.

Silly me, I forget to click the MTT tab lol, found them now.

I'm point (FPP) chasing tonight, aiming to get 6 to keep me on track for my bonus as I need a minimum of 3 per day to reach my target and I don't think I'll have time to play tomorrow at all, but I'll have a go on Sunday or Monday when I'm next free.

Be VERY CAREFUL of the next few levels.  You are going to see a dramatic change in poker play.  $1.00 sit and go is going to have tons of people not worrying about their bankroll.  Most of the info I have read is that $10.00 tourneys are the first level of change in player methods.  $20+ is when you can expect a high percentage of people just like you who are looking at bankroll increases as compared to entertainment.

Another post mentioned pushing all in for $1000 based on the belief that you should have a BR of 100:1.  Same methodology here.

I have actually found more sucsess playing at the $5 level than the $1. I was lucky though to start with I won $600 at a $10 buy in full tourney to pad my bank roll. I mostly play s&g's but I do keep my eyes on garanteed money tourneys for ones that are not hugely filled and give me a better chance at winning.

I started out playing 1 dollar sngs, then 2 dollar sngs, then 5 dollar sngs.  I did the best overall with the 5 dollar ones.  I would have a minimum of 20 buy ins for a single table sit and go, and for multitable sngs or tourneys 40 to 50 buy ins.  Everyone goes through bad luck streaks or whatever you want to call it and its important to have a proper bankroll cushion to sustain you through those lean times.  Plus you wont feel scared to play because you know you have a roll behind you.

Excellent advice.  Listen to this, please.
